I've got a JLT on my 03, and I love the noise that it makes and the price. I'm just wondering about the K&N for my recently purchased 04. Does it make a comparable noise as the JLT, or is it quieter or louder? Are there any issues with it rubbing the hood?
Hoping to hear from some of you who have had both setups.

From what I've heard the JLT makes more noise..... and it's cheaper to boot!

Can only give u 411 on JLT.
1. Additional performace...maybe 5 hp over stock
2. Roars when you stomp gas pedal to the floor
3. Gives that added touch to under hood appearance.
4. Price is Right

MY K&N had a cleaner look. The JTL I have now flows more air & is a little loader but not by much. The JTL in my car hits the hood liner a little even after being adjusted, the K&N doesn't.

There's no reason for anyone to have the k&n kit unless you got it used from reinhart for 120

My JLT is still loud even with my exhaust system. On my stock hood it would rub but after I put on the CGP cowl hood there wasn't any more rubbing. Also the rubbing might be due to having the intake spacer.

I looked at the JLT and the K&N and I thought the K&N was just more aesthetically pleasing. The K&N sounds good to me.

In the past aside from some members saying the JTL it hits the hood liner ( in some cases) they also from time to time said (it came loose ). They both have their good points.

Is the JLT have a CARB exemption for California. The K&N does.
It includes a sticker for the state Smog check program.

The big question for me is: Does the K&N make as much noise as the JLT?

No. The K&N is a bit quiter, but still sounds like a banchee when you nail it.:burnout:

I'm thinking I might try the K&N this time around. I've got the JLT on my 03 and I love it except for the hood rubbing issue. You can't beat the sound or the price, but I've seen the K&N on fleabay for about $220 including shipping.

I would also like to know does the JLT come with CARB exemption?

I didn't have any issues with hood rub or falling off with my JLT. I think many people would be surprised how far that rubber elbow will fit over the TB and the intake tube...

Sorry to resuscitate this thread but I just installed my JLT (love the sound) but it's rubbing on my hood liner.
I'm not that bugged about the hood liner decay but wonder if I take out the liner (FOR MORE NOISE!), will the JLT rub against the underhood/paint?

If you adjust the JLT it won't rub the hood liner.
Is the opening the same size on both the filters?

I agree 100% - I was surprised the first time I heard the K&N on the Marauder. Makes it sound like an F1 at WOT.
