I hand washed the Marauder for the first time purchasing. This a great way to learn all of your car's little details, like the goof I discovered.

I was washing the back of the car when I got to the tail lights. The passenger-side has three horizontal indentions, but the driver-side was completely smooth. I wondered; a styling detail or an example of shift-change assembly?

I went by the dealership to compare against other MMs. The salesman came out to inquire if I was enjoying car. I showed him the mismatched tail lights and with an embarrased grin:rolleyes: he said he would order the correct replacement

I think MMs use tail lamps from CV police interceptor.

they put a regular GM taillight on one side

The MM taillights are from the Police interceptor, and slightly darkened, but from '03 PIs i've seen, i think they are all darkened now

Hmm... this may sound crazy, BUT... what if you could keep it that way and some how prove that it was built that way. You know, to make it an "odd job" MM to increase it value? I know this probably sounds nuts, but ya never know... Personally though I'd go on ahead and have them swap it out. I'm a stickler for perfection!

besides the three grooves notice that the bottom of the Grand Marquis tail light does not have the plastic piece thats color matched on the Police Interceptor and the Marauder. The Grand Marquis piece just has the continuation of the glas all the way down.

if i were an older Grand Marquis tail light (pre-2003) you'd see a little chrome strip on the top that corresponds to that of the rear fascia... to match the cosmetic design.

Also if you still have this tail light on, have someone sit in the car and step on the brakes, you'll see that in your left tail light only the upper part ligths up, whereas the right one more of the tail light lights up minus the turn signal located at the bottom...

I too would recommend going to the dealer and getting the right left tail light (no pun intended, lol)

Here is back of car with the mismatched tail lights. Not really a bad look, but I imagine it's more apparent at night when I hit the brakes. Of course, owning a Marauder, I hit the gas more than the brakes.:)

I know whiteknuckles and I can tell you that you had better be nice to him. At 6'4" (or 6'5") he is quite an imposing fellow! Especially when he is out riding his Harley!
