I live in detector-prohibited Virginia, and took the V1 out of my car to replace it with a Spectre-immune Escort Redline (but I sure do miss the directional arrows of the V1). I recently sold the Volkswagen (in which the V1 lived) so now I'm selling the stuff that was in that car.

I have no idea of what the software version is, or how fast Valentine comes out with updates. But it is upgradeable to the current version.

$350 Plus Shipping*, via PayPal.

* Shipping works like this - once your money clears, I take the V1 and all the accessories in its box to the local UPS Store and pass along your name to them. Then I tell you the UPS store manager's name and his phone number. Then YOU call the UPS store and make whatever arrangements you deem appropriate to ship the V1 to you. They'll pack it as you direct, and ship it at the speed you request. You pay them directly for this service, and I have stepped out of it.

I had grandiose ideas about building the remote mount parts into a trim piece for the left side of the steering wheel, but never got to it. If you want that trim piece, it's yours for another fifty bucks, still in the original packaging, with both the T/C and Pedal switches included.

I'd be interested in the trim piece....

Maybe if the person who buys the V1 doesn't take it ...

You can look the serial number up on the V1 website and it will give you the details for your particular unit.

https://store.valentine1.com/Upgrades/

It will tell you if you have the latest version of the software or if there are any upgrades available (which you pay and send it in for them to do).

Good luck with the sale - I love my V1's and they're definitely one of the best on the market. Once you go with the arrows it's hard to go anywhere else.

In these fabulous pillow-case-on-the-desktop pictures, you will see: A Valentine 1, two visor mounts, one suction cup mount (with 16, count 'em, 16!) extra suction cups, the remote volume box, the remote display box, the cigarette lighter power plug, the mount for the remote display-onto-the-cigarette-lighter plug, the long straight cord, the short straight cord, the long curly cord, and the remote power mounting thing. Present but not in the picture: The original box, and the original instruction manual, and the trim piece.

I'm interested but what is the black box (?) with the red and black wires on the right side of the pictures, the part that plugs into the cig lighter?

That's the thing that allows you to hardwire the power for the V1 into your car's wiring. It has two RJ-45 connectors in it (those little plastic plugs, like on the end of a phone cord), and the V1 plugs into one side for power. If you use the remote display, it plugs into the other side, and the the V1 display goes dark, with all controls/displays routed through the remote units.

Take a look at the Valentine 1 Owner's Manual (http://www.valentine1.com/v1info/pdf/V1_OwnersManual.pdf) at picture number 4 on page 25. That's much clearer than what I'm trying to explain.

Can you PM me the serial # so I can see what version it is?

I checked the Serial Number on the V1 for upgrades, and apparently its missing one thing - "POP." Here's what the web site says:

UPGRADE PROPOSAL FOR YOUR Serial Number 5579940671

Our POP Upgrade* for this series of V1 will produce the following benefits:

Full Coverage on POP—covers POP on two bands—specifically the MPH Industries models BEE III (Ka band) and Enforcer (K and Ka).

POP Coverage is Automatic: There's nothing you must do to activate POP coverage. It's built in, and it operates full time.

How to identify V1s upgraded to two-band POP: V1 powers up with test sequence of warning lights and sounds. At the conclusion of the test, just before the mode indicator appears in the Bogey Counter, you will see a sequence of “P…o…P” on V1s with two-band POP coverage.

* A new warning: When the signal-identification system determines that a current warning is, in fact, a spurious signal transmitted by another detector, it notifies you with a “dee-dah-doo” sound and terminates the warning. At the same time, the letter “J” will flash briefly in the Bogey Counter.

* Euro Mode: You will enjoy longer radar range and fewer false alarms in Europe and some other countries outside the U.S. Euro Mode adapts V1’s radar sensitivity to the way they use radar for photo enforcement. It narrows and intensifies radar coverage to K and the sections of Ka bands applied there to photo radar. X band is not covered in Euro Mode. (V1 is already optimized for North American radar as it comes from the factory. Euro Mode is not appropriate for driving here.)

This upgrade will install the Euro Mode but you must activate it. To activate, see http://www.valentine1.com/Lab/TechReport3.asp One-year limited warranty starting at upgrade date, same as new units.

*POP Upgrade plus Euro Mode: As soon as we receive your old unit (in operable condition with no tampering of the serial number) we’ll install revised firmware and some new hardware, then return it to you in the shortest possible time with a new serial number to indicate its revised capability.

PRICE: $139 plus shipping

I think the $125++ in additional remote equipment makes up for the need for an upgrade, but that's just me.

Unless you get "drilled" by someone using "POP", then you gotta try and talk your way out of it, I know, I had to upgrade mine because of it.
