I've been brainstorming on how to make my mm unique. So far I came up with
1.mercury badge with cobra Emblem in the center
2.bumper brakelight setup

Well that's all I came up with so far.
what do you all think.?

Thanks.
Saul

Cut out the marader words on the bumper and install a light panel connect it to the brakelights so when I brake the word on the bumper will light up

Birdman had the same idea.

I just can't see hacking up my rear bumper.

Good luck with your project.

A while back someone posted a shop that did that exact mod, it looked factory, but they wanted a small fortune for the mod.

Ditch the Cobra. It's a Mach I engine.

I agree.... it's not a Cobra nor an "INTERCEPTOR" for that matter.

As for the bumper idea, I 'd have this done already if the bumper cover wasn't so expensive.

Why not just drill a small enough hole for an LED light to fit in and then put clear lexan cutouts over them. When the led lights up the Lexan should light up.

Actually it's a Lincoln motor:) ('93 Mark VIII)

I was going to do several things to mine at first, yet somehow never got around to it. Several years later, I'm glad I didn't. I've grown very fond of the stock appearance, heck, even the stock exhaust note has grown on me over time, and I used to think it was too quiet.

Isn't it ok to just "loosely" call it a cobra motor? Does the non-ford type really care about the slight deviations that made it a Mach 1 motor or a Aviator motor or a "X" motor. If it's got 4 cams, 32 valves and 4.6L I consider that close enough.

Yes that is true for your viewpoint. Like I stated the motor FIRST started in the Lincoln Mark VIII in 1993. Ford took the motor and put it into the '99 Cobra because the 302 would not cut ir any more (emissions?)

If I remember correctly Ford overstate the HP and had to "fix" it ($$) new motor's I think or upgrades. Either way an black eye for Ford:eek:

The 96-98 Cobra also had the 32V (non COP ignition).

It just seems trivial to split hairs over a 20HP variance. (not including the Mark's which go back to the dark ages). I refer to the wife's Aviator all the time as basically having the Cobra motor.

P.S. Yes, the 99 Cobra's were not adding up on the dyno and many of them went back to Ford for a "fix." I think it involved pulling the upper intake and running a carbide bit through the runners. I wouldn't be surprised if ford gave em a degree or two advance also.

My friend's 2001 Cobra was right on the money. 269 RWHP stock. 274 RWHP with no resonator in the airbox.

I too remember viewing that mod, looked nice IMHO, but I prefer the complete stock look, just adding my 0.02¢ :)

I was a mechanic at a Ford dealer during this "fix". It involved replacing the upper/lower intake manifold, cat-back and recalibration to the PCM.

its a Marauder engine. When ford didnt sell enough marauders, they dumped the extra engines into the mach1 and the aviator.

So then when the cobra wasn't being sold in 2002...................?
