View Full Version : installed new head unit, question on factory sub conection
ive put in a new head unit with all the correct wire harness, not sure what the wires from the subwoofer harness connect 2. there 2 of them both blue and white. i have one hooked to the remote wire off the head unit. im now thinking the other hooks to the power wire?? its been years since ive done this not used to having a factory amp and sub. thanks for your help everyone and oh yeah, is there a way for the volume controls on the wheel able to still work?

Steering wheel controls will not work unless you installed a Ford headunit or you use an interface.
i have 2 Blue/white -amplifire turn on wires. is 1 for the remote wire from the head unit and the other gets hooked to the switched power wire or constant power??? i cant tell if the subs working or not with just the remote and the av jacks pluged into the headunit

The factory sub/amp?
I may be wrong, but I believe the factory amp is signaled by 5v instead of 12v? And the inputs to the amp aren't "normal" like on the pre-outs on an aftermarket headunit?

I believe you are right. Much easier to go with an aftermarket sub and amp or a Basslink like I did.

The first pic has a space saver spare... I've upgraded to a full size spare and it still fits.
That looks good, how dose it sound? i might have to put and order into amazon, found it there for $183..

If you don't need ground thumping bass the Basslink is the way to go.
