I have a 2003 Marauder that I have owned for about four months and readily admit I am not totally familiar with the different climatic control features. Since purchase, I have used the car very infrequently.

Anyway, I took the Marauder out on yesterday and on the way back from my errands, I turned on the AC. When I got home, I hit the "Off" button to turn off the AC but it kept blowing cold air. I tried to turn if off by hitting the "Vent" button; going to the "Max Air"; and changing the direction of the air flow but nothing works...it continues to blow cold air.

I hope this is not too "general" of an explanation of the problem but does anyone have any ideas as to what may be happening or what I need to do to turn off the AC?

THANKS!

Why turn it off and on?

I leave my automatic temperature control set at 72 degrees year-round.

The OFF button should turn it off... it may take awhile to stop.

...that is a GREAT thought!

Obviously, I am not use to all these "new fangled" gadgets:)...I will give the "wait" thing a try. Heck, I am not even "used" to AC as neither of my old (1973) modified big block Mustangs have it.

THANKS again for the prompt reply!

I'm pretty sure hitting "OFF" should turn everything off immediately, but I won't swear to it. There's a self-diagnostic that you can run by hitting a combination of buttons but I've never done it and don't know the exact sequence. Hopefully someone else will post it.

I did a "search" and found the diagnostic sequence referred to within the above post (depressing the "off" and "Floor" button at the same time and then depressing the "Automatic" button within two (2) seconds).

When I did this, it cycled for a while and then a display came up showing "PNL", "FLR", "Outisde Temp (with temperature under the bottom)", "F C", "Max AC", "Auto" and "Vent." After it did this, I could hear the fan but it was not kicking out air. I turned off the motor and got the same thing but when I depressed the "AC" button, the pitch of the fan got slower and it started to blow cold air. Depressing the "Off" button still does not stop the fan from blowing:mad:.

I, too, am pretty sure everything should go "OFF" when that button is depressed as it was doing so in the past.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks!

Could one of the orings have torn and got an actuator stuck resulting in it staying on? (I don't know if thats plausable or not)...

I REALLY do not have a clue. The AC is actually working fine; it just "bums me out" when anything is not working the way I think it should.

I will take it to the Dealer on Monday and let them deal with the problem.

THANKS again for the replies!

this actually sounds like the same problem that started on my MM the other night. Even when i have the EATC set to off the fan stays blowing and i cant get it to stop unless i unplug the harness under the hood. Idk, i was thinking maybe a relay was stuck on or something. Let me know is the dealer helps any.

Well, as quickly as the problem with the "off" button manifested itself, it seems to have "gone away."

I went out a couple of days ago and started the engine whereby the AC (to include the blower) immediately activated. Just for "grins", I decided to depress the "off" button...Lo and Behold, the puppy WORKED!

I don't know what caused the initial situation or what "fixed" it:o.

My car did something weird like this once, I started the car and it blew the fan on the highest setting by itself and the EATC was left on off. Wouldn't turn off so I turned the car off, waited 10 sec, turned it back on and never has done it since.
