I'm glad I took a pass on buying that car when it was available, later found it had a lot of problems in it's short life.:shake:

I remember his screen name was lilalleycat or something similar, first name was Al. It was the only Marauder Lidio did a 6 gallon meth tank in. I understand it had a few motors and several transmissions, it was beat on pretty bad.

Spectra...... Al's former car was the one in the right lane...... Al spent a boatload of money on that car, so I would not say it was beat on....(Yea he had to replace the motor, and their were some glitches during the rebuild process, but that not uncommon for these cars). I would say he drove it frequently as if he'd stolen it;).

Not a bad thing if ya ask me. Nothing wrong with driving these cars hard as long as you can maintain them properly.:burnout:

Oh, I realize how much that was spent on it, it had most everything I was looking for, things just didn't work out on my end, $$$ wise. I had outstanding invoices I was waiting on payment for, and had all my free cash tied up in those jobs.

Then people started telling me about all the problems that car had, from the blower, to motor and transmissions, sometimes things go a certain way for a reason.....

It was an awesome car though....

True Dat!!!:D I would say that the majority of things that went wrong with his car where due to human error vs. part failure though. An important distinction to make I think when looking at vehicle history.

:beatnik:Was this car a lemon from the start? Or did an aftermarket tuner/tech turn it into one?? Good questions to ask, if we ever find the opportunity, to stroke a check for a hotrod in the future.

"As far as Dave's car goes, it came straight from Al, built and tuned by Lidio with the forged stroker and one of his Lyschom twin-screw kits, meth-injected and dialed in. Dave will be the first one to admit his disappointment with the car, and as you get closer to the bleeding edge of mods, quality of ride and drivability suffer. He's busy tracking down an oil leak that mists the front of the engine, and the meth system had a serious leak in it that was not a material defect."

"The meth injection system is another matter. Dave told me Lidio has not/will not return his calls or emails, so we are forced to grope around blindly with this issue. The meth is vented directly to the outside by a hose with no check valve or anything (?!?) so it evaporates at a stupid rate. Of the two engagement lights, we've never seen the second one come on as it is suppposed to. Finding a shop willing to take on this car will be a hard task, so we may Sniper the whole thing like the last one. Loooong learning curve."

Thanks Sail....... I don't know how the car was represented to the purchaser, by Al.

Its unfortunate that Lideo was not returning his calls. I have always heard that he was a stand up guy(never met him, only spoken with him about his work on the Banshee once), so it seems a strange situation considering Lideo did alot of work on that car.

Hopefully its all figured out now. From the run in the video, it looks like they are close.:burnout:

It was my understanding (after the fact) that it was human error, i.e. the owner/tuner whom ever. When I mentioned a meth system for my MM to Lidio, the look on his face told the story. He told me some stories about Al's car, apparently he felt the issues were due to the way the car was being operated. But..... there are always 3 sides to a story.

Hi folks,

Thanks to Sully008, I found this thread. The faster Silver (11.95) is 2DMax's, and the slower one is mine. The poof was not expensive, and the car ran well the rest of the night...and everyday since. What actually happened with mine was the Dirty Dog Performance tranmission valve body was acting up and stupid.

I've gone up from consistent 12.8-12.9s to ugly 13.3-13.4s since installing it. Makes the car hold the gear waaay too long before it finally shifts, usually have to back pedal to make it shift at WOT. Everything has been checked by 2 seperate shops so I'm having my stock unit rebuilt and put back in. This thing sucks. IMHO, of course, YMMV.

We went to the track a week later again, and ran no problems except for the fact that my car is still SLOWER and SUCKS since this last mod.

I'll be in an open road course day sponsored by Roush next week and throwing the MM around. Hopefully this valve body will SUCK so much that it destroys itself and I'll be given an excuse to upgrade to an actual legitimate high performance trans supplier.

And yes, the tune was checked/rechecked/modified etc. And no, the car doesn't burn/leak oil or water. Checked all that as well. Think I need to do the catch can mod, as the crankcase was a bit overfilled last time. My guess is the car at full boost holding WOT for much longer than it should sucked oil into the intake and looked much worse than it was.

The MM is still my daily driver, no engine problems at all. :censor: the trans, though.

As for Al's car, there have been numerous DUMB faults found. The most obvious was that the meth resevoir would be empty a week after filling it...when the car just sat there. No cracks, just a relief hose that vented straight to the outside. No check valve, no proper routing, nothing.

Apparently, Al said to 2DMax that Lido installed this meth unit. Lidio says he doesn't remember it, but would if he did. Who knows. My only personal experience with Lidio was getting an XCal via mail order, and everything went just fine. And most folks here rave about Lidio.

Al's old car (which included police style wig-wag headlights :rolleyes:and numerous non-functional antennas:shake:) was just gone over by a local speed shop who said the car has great potential, AFTER someone goes through it. It's one of the 12 Lyshom Twin Screw kits from Trilogy on a stroked and forged engine. I think 11.5s are in the future. AFTER lots of tuning time. BTW, I'm pretty sure the car was advertised as "11.4s in current form". Being nearly at sea level, you'd think it would be faster here than where it came from.

Al's car was represented to me by him correctly, I feel. I don't know much of the past history or any problems he may have had before I bought it. I bought it sight unseen and found that Al was straight up about everthing other than a few very minor items. Only thing I really hated was the hole drilled right through the trunk lid to secure the antenna and whoever painted the front bumper either didnt use flex agent or properly prep it as it is full of cracks and has to be completely re-done.

When I had the car shipped to Canada, the transport company just about ripped the front bumper off and damaged/scratched both rear door windows and support post. I submitted a claim and that was about the last time I heard from them.

There was a dyno sheet in the rear seat pouch that showed the engine developed 545hp, although when I recently had it dyno'd I found it was tuned and running 515rwhp. I never did call Al to see what he did after the 545 pull to end up with what I have now.

To set the record straight, the car was very clean and the engine compartment was immaculate when I got it. It has a very strong engine that does have a lot of potential. The meth kit has a huge tank and was installed nicely....however the pump was the issue when I got it, and seal leakage was the reason for the tank draining rapidly. This was hard to find as the pump is installed under the air box and almost impossible to see, and due to it being Methanol, it evaporates quickly so you never really saw a pool under the car after driving it.

However, in regards to Lidio, he eventually returned my calls, and thought for sure the kit installed had a low level indicator on it (which it doesn't). Not a big deal, really, as 6 gallons goes a long way, but in regards to a leak issue, it would be nice to know when the level got too low before a pass. I sent the pump away for repair and it has not been an issue since then. I think the kit is well worth it, and will post some temps when I go back for some tuning adjustments.

Al spent a ton of money on this car when he had it and does represent the MM world nicely.

Oh, and 11.5's would probably be obtainable with a better driver, and I admit I am still learning and don't have much track time under my belt.:)

Lidio pulled 536.8 hp and 538.8 ft lbs out of mine on 8/11/2009. I had just installed the Lyshlom and had the snout modified to accept a cobra style pulley w/a 3.0 cog producing 13.7 lbs of boost. I was rather disappointed to find that on the second run it falls way off to only 513.5 hp with 534.7 ft lbs. After running Matt several times during the Dream Cruise I can tell you he is one strong customer. He actually handed me my ass in front of thousands of people at the street races there in Pontiac albeit I was on street Nittos and he had drag radials. Prolly the best time I had in longer than I can remember. I did have to tell Matt that we shoud chill out when we were about back to Bloomfield lol.

Based on everything that went into the build with the right weather and tires you should easily run low 11's.

Thanks for the clarification Max. I count Al as a friend, but was not privvy to your discussions and therefor could not discuss on the boards with authenticity how the sales/transfer went down. Figured I would wait for one of the two parties to chime in on this thread vs. defending second hand info.

I'm glad you are enjoying your ride, and look forward to more video's:banana2:

No problem. A lot of people never knew I purchased the car in the first place and I never really made it public until recently. Aside from that, the members here should know that Al did a nice job, (although there are some things I would have done differently), and looked after and maintained the vehicle very well. He ended up with (and now I do!) a clean and fast car!

So......does this 1/4 mile run qualify me, and allow me to humbly request to be added to the 11 second club, complete with the logo under my avitar? :burnout:
