AKA Jim....
Just a big public thanks to Jim for helping me out Friday Night. For those of you who don't know me (everybody), I bought a new to me 03A trilogy about 4 months ago. Jim helped me via PMs prior to purchase with suggestions on what to look for etc...
Since the time of purchase personal and business obligations have kept me from driving it and its been in storage. Also since that time I've been wanting to drop by and meet Jim in person but I could never put it together. Finally, this past Friday, I had an opportunity to do both. I pulled her out of storage around 1pm and ran several errands. My plan was to meet Jim around 6. Around 4:30, I started blowing steam and the car was severly overheating. I was about 6 miles from Jims, so I parked her and gave Jim a call to let him know I wouldn't be able to make it. He suggested let it cool down and bring it by and he'd take a look at it.
6 o'clock rolls around and I drive her over to Jim's. It's a 100 degrees at 6, so in the 6 miles, the car hits red, and begins to sputter just as I coast into Jim's street. After some quick diagnosis, Jim notices that the fan is running, but then abruptly stops....then restarts. Upon futher investigation, the permieter of the fan has split in two at one of the casting seams.
I'm thinking great, I'm gonna have to get a tow back to storage and figure out how to get it fixed. Jim suggests that I call around to see if someone has the part and we'll put it in tonight! Sure enough I find one 2 miles down the road....I have to buy the whole fan/relay assembly, but I'm desperate. So Jim runs me over in his Marauder, we pick up the fan, come back and in 30 minutes had it swapped in and the cooling system burped. Car ran great and stayed cool since.
So, again, I wanted to thank Jim and his wife for allowing me to borrow his time on a Friday night...He showed me several of his cool projects (wizard with LEDs) completed on his own Marauder and some upcoming ones. I look forward to trying them on my own car :)
