View Full Version : Soft paint anyone?

When detailing the door jambs I noticed that the paint in the area of the front door hinges, main body only, not the door itself, is soft...soft to the point that it is actually sticky and has no gloss and the dirt can't be removed as it has become embedded in the soft paint. So soft that it can be scratched off with a thumb nail. Only in the front door hinge area on both sides. Anyone else have this?

Was your car undercoated?
Mine was, it is soft and sticky on mine too but it isn't paint.

Nope, no undercoating she's out of Florida. Really odd, the exterior panels are just fine, just the hinge area under the A pillar is sticky soft.

My paint had flaked off on the lip of the fender at the back of the wheel on the front fenders. Then proceeded to slowly start rusting.

Wow I have no issues like you described.
Might be a defect in paint.
Not sure if you can take it back to your local stealership for warranty purposes. But I would try. Good luck!

I bet someone sprayed some lube on the hinge that softened the paint!!

Could be, but why just the front hinges? The mystery continues. No big deal, life goes on.

Most used doors and they get right squeaky when dry!!
I just squirt a little oil on the roller stop and hinge!!
