No, not the law enforcement kind... ;)

At almost exactly 150,000 miles Phoebe started to skip under moderate acceleration. No CEL and no pending DTCs. I had a couple of extra coils so I started with the 2 easiest ones to access and got lucky. It was the #3 cylinder.

For anyone who has a skip under moderate acceleration but a smooth idle, having a misfire from a weak coil will not necessarily set the CEL or even throw a pending DTC so taking your car to get the codes read will not always give you the answer. Having a spare coil and a willingness to take the time to swap them one by one can save you a boatload of money.

You got lucky!!! Glad you found the bad coil.

I just changed all of mine out with new Granatelli ones in my rauder. According to Granatelli they are back by lifetime warranty....perfecto.

My ride is purrrrrrrrrrrrrrring & responsive. Just like new.

Problem was solved & I got piece of mind!

I also didn't want to worry about another one going bad soon after by just changing the bad one. Through experience, I changed one bad coil in my P71 & about 2 months later another went bad. Car had 100k and 9 yrs old with original COPs.

How do you know it was the COP and not the boot?

Because I have the Granatelli COP connectors and boots and swapped them over to the new coil.
