Does anyone know how much a 2003 Mercury Marauder is actually worth? Is the KBB value accurate for this vehicle? Does anyone know how much this car will be worth when it's 20 - 25 years old?

Marauders have been selling for anywhere from $8,000 to around $16,000, depending on mileage and overall condition.

There's even one currently listed for $40K with less than 500 miles on it (don't think that one's going to sell too quickly... ;))

Hard to say what pricing will be in 20 - 25 years. If you're looking to buy one as an investment, I'm not sure this is your best bet.

The car is worth what someone is willing to buy it for, based on factors too numerous to list here. Many of the membership here have made modifications to their cars and some are still stock. None of us have a crystal ball to know what the car will be worth in 20-25 years. One guess is as good as another - and it's just a guess.

Honestly, just about the only people that really care about the car are those that own them. Because the car community at large doesn't recognize them as powerhouse performers (like they did cars like a BOSS Mustang, 'cudas, Grand Nationals, etc.), I doubt they will ever go beyond cult collectibility.

A nice one might go up to 20k after 25 years. And that's collector value not bs book value

I would like to say it will hold value, but I highly doubt it. Car companies just keep the same style of a car for too long that its nothing special like a one year only produced model.
I'm sure clones will be flooding the market around that time so that may bounce up the value on a real one a bit but I don't expect to see a stock low mileage Marauder roll across a auction floor for 100K anytime soon.

Any left in good condition in 25 years will be worth......$100,000 I hope..Hold on to them

I personally use www.nadaguides.com, KBB usually always has a lower value. Most dealerships (trade-in value) and banks that refinance auto loans go by Nada Guides handbook.

As the car gets older, and more and more owners trash them (just read the daily posts), the MM gets to be rare, which in turn drives the price up.
I have a 1970 Boss, I paid $ 4800 when I ordered it. I have to insure it for $ 60,000 because so many owners decided to destroy their cars by cutting it up into a drag car, driving crazy on the street, or just acting like a fool. So with every Boss they wrecked, mine went up in value. Thank you former owners.

I suspect that the Marauder will see that same future..just from what I read on our website each day.

A car is meant to be driven, enjoyed, destroyed and rebuilt. Sounds like you are yet another person who lives for money instead of fun.

Did you notice that my logo IS that Boss passing a shelby at over 125 MPH at the Thunderbolt raceway. I drive her, often, at the speeds it was meant to be driven. I just don't drive her like a A-Hole racing her on the street.

I prefer the track, car shows, and cruise nights.

Well Said Sir.

I remember Many of the classic cars everyone now wants as collectibles as just another car back in the day...nobody knew what they had,
Here's an example...http://bringatrailer.com/2011/07/28/the-other-daytona-blown-1963-studebaker-lark-r2/ I had a model of this car in 1963, I was 7 years old.
I'd love to have this in my garage right now...

That picture could have been taken in 1970 for all I know.

I'm an a-hole and I approve of my driving... not yours. Or lack of driving. :)

It is a shame that education is lost on those who can't be educated. All digital photos carry imbedded in them the date, time, resolution, and the camera that took the photo. Click on the photo and right click properties. It was taken recently.

Don't take Motorhead for real, sometime he is aburpt. His view point seams to be to drive a car into the ground. Which I sure not many of us agree with. I feel he will get a rude awaking one sad day when the marauder has live out it's cycle. Let's face it you can only re-build a machine so many times before it no longer cost effective.

Glad to see you are enjoying your "toys" now that living:up:

Real class act. What a horrible way to answer a simple question from a new guy.

You can't really put a price on a rare car. It is worth whatever someone will pay. I most certaintly do not run my car into the ground. I use it as a family car, a fun car, and I over maintain. It's just a stupid four door Mercury, but it is mine, and has always just asked for more. I like to know that my car is worth something and not a pos beater. So yes, I do have interest in what she is worth.

Couldn't agree more with Bob. For every car it's worth something to somebody and can be hard to put a price on it. Cars and Real Estate make for lousy investments from a financial standpoint, but the blood, sweat and tears that build memories in them are priceless. The Marauder is a credit card, it can and will cost you cash cause you get addicted to it, but the end result us priceless and you don't want to leave home without if.

And Dom, don't be such an azz to a newbie who asked a legit question.

Carry on, sorry newb if this thread gets locked

"Your home is your best investment" unless you live in a 1 company town.

Older cars and Harleys could be rebuilt, so they always had some value, even for parts. Many of the modern cars are throw-away. Daughter's escort for example.
The Marauder may not be a throw-away car and many of them may survive the crusher.

Exactly!

I expect and suspect these cars to be worth more in 5 to 10 years than they are worth right now. Obviously, like any "collector car" stock OEM will be the desired state... And tasteful mods will by appraised (+ or - ) by like minded individuals.

As we've seen, real estate cycles, just as collector car market cycles... And bad buys in either can sink even the savviest collector.

Low mileage, well cared for cars with history (receipts) WILL ALWAYS BRING A higher value.

I can see a low mileage mint 2003 Mercury Marauder crossing the stage at Barrett Jackson in 7 years or so. I am talking 10,000 to 17,000 stock, OEM miles... Never rained on... And it fetching 20,000 to $25,000 plus easy (yes some retail outlets are asking this now--but I truley doubt they are getting it).

Are these cars undervalued now? YES and No. 10-15 years from new is the soft spot regarding pricing... And thus an average 50,000 to 70,000 mile car is still just consider a cool used car.

Will they increase a lot? No, not for another 10+ years.

Our cars are Rare... Knowledge wise.... Meaning no one really knows what it is.

Remember Gt500 Mustangs were rented at Hertz... War a great marketing ploy that was)!

Will a 20,000 mile Marauder be worth more 20 years from now? I bet yes!

Will a 100,000 miles Marauder be worth a lot more 20 years from now--that is a tough question. I bet it will hold, but not gain equity.

Also I agree with almost everything above... i view Collecting cars as different than owning and driving cars... And both can be equally rewarding.

Pulled the Marauder out yesterday, made sure the TUNE WAS SET TO GAS WAISTER... and shredded rubber all day... Was so fun that I drove him to the airport (underground protected parking) this am as we'll... Which I never do!!!

In the airport covered parking lot I chirped the tires over every single metal expansion joint--all the way though the garage. After I had parked a dad and three sons came over to ask me about the "mean growling" sounds my car made.

I almost took a pic to post for ya'll.

What ever an owner does with these cars... If they drive it, eAch will know that they did the right thing-- as long as they drove it and enjoyed it... As these are truley bad ass rides.

I've driven mine 3/4 across country on Route 66. Never once was stiff, sore, or tired of driving it. Probably the best metric/compliment a car can get!

Expet for the Texas Ranger who pulled me over just to look at it!

I own mine simply because I Love the car. I purchased my 2004 DTR brand new and it is stock except for a tune and the dead pedal. It currently has 46000 miles on it and most of those were put on it in the first three years. I currently own three and hope to own four when i find a 2004 Silver Birch that I cannot live without. Then I will have all four colors. I own them not for an investment but because they are great cars. :beatnik:

Mine has been altered enough to never qualify as an 03 Marauder, or anything else for that matter. LOL Good luck finding a value unless you base it off just a body and wheels.

I got a 1 of 1 Classic Chrysler Marauder 03
I sell it to you for 75k lol

But as far as in 20-25 years the marauder car may not be as worth as much as marauder parts . The cost of replacing parts now is crazy just think what a bumper cover will sell for in 20 years ? 3000-5000 idk just my 2 cents
