Good afternoon everyone,

Since purchasing my 03mm have noticed my transmission is slow to engage into drive after reversing up my driveway. Sometimes taking a second or two to go into drive. However I didn't think too much of it, fluid level was ok, though needs a flush probably (doubt its ever been done at 84k miles. However the last few times I driven it I noticed it slip out of drive for a second when stopped.

The other day I drove up a hill and stopped to then start again and the car appeared to be out of gear and revved up for a second, let my foot off gas, then it was back in drive. Then today I put it in 1 and gave it some gas and same thing, revved up so I let off gas and it kicked in....

I have to rechecked fluid again today....thoughts?

you could try a trans flush filter change and new fluid and see if that saves it maybe all the above plus lucas trans oil stuff ... if that does'nt help a trans my be called for . good luck my friend

^^^^^ What he said ^^^^^^

Start with a trans flush and fluid change.

Yeah gonna knock out the fluid change this weekend hoping that saves it. Wierd that it has no other tranny issues at all.

*Sounds* like the fluid level is low. Forgive me if you already know this, but the car has to be level, in Park, engine running, fluid at operating temp to check properly.

While you have the pan off, either get one of the so-called "U-Haul" pans with the built-in drain plug, or go to your FLAPS and get a universal plug and install it. This will allow you to do future changes MUCH quicker and with WAY less mess. I do a drain & fill every 3rd oil change (15,000 miles). It's not necessary to change the filter again after the first time.

Just went out and checked the fluid level on my lunch. Fluid is about 1/2 way up crosshatch area (so full according to dip stick?) fluid looks clean bright red, doesn't smell burnt. Wierd. Wierd that I don't have any other slipping problems either...when driving city, highway, etc only when at a stop twice, and slow to engage when backing out of driveway...

Was thinking I could do J-mod (without spring change just holes enlarged) (have done it before on 01 vic) as well as fluid and filter and maybe that would help more fluid flow?...but don't know if I should or if I should get the ford extended warranty and do the fluid w/o jmod...

When mine was slow to engage into reverse it was the transmission selector cable out of adjustment.

Also fill the fluid all the way to the top because just a little less than completely full will cause these symptoms.

Is there any way to check if my selector cable is out of adjustment and how to adjust it correctly?
