I upgraded my laptop hard drive from a WD Scorpio Black 7200rpm(mechanical) to a Crucial M4 SATA SSD drive. No mechanical parts to get hurt while tuning (like hitting a bump in the road or dropping the laptop). Much faster too! I've been meaning to do this for a while and have other tuners interested. I can quickly clone the existing hard drive to the new SSD drive, swap them around and have it up and running quickly.

I've been meaning to do the same thing in my laptop; SSD's are dropping fairly nicely in price. You can get a 120GB for around ~$150 now.

Still, it's hard to replace a 300GB drive with one that's half the size when your OS/apps drive requires 60+ gigs...

This laptop is now dedicated to my Marauder. Tuning, research, Ford service manuals, how-to's, etc. ;) Other laptops are for different things... Not to mention, the original drive is safe.

I want an SSD, and have the perfect candidate for one.

What are you using to clone the drive? Acronis? :D

Come on GEEK,.. spill it.

Sounds slow.

:D

Not a fan of HP. Especially their laptops but sounds good for a 'beater' laptop fo sho.
