Just curious, after your install did your engine seem more noisy? Im not reffering to the sound of the exhaust, I mean do the lifters and the normal engine sounds seem more amplified? My pistons are noisy at startup and it seems to be even louder at startup since the install as well as every single click and clack these engines make.
Thanks for any info...

I noticed DOOM's engine noise got louder, even after my exhaust was done I developed the same "tick" DOOM has on his car. It's not as loud but it's there and you can clearly hear it from the driver's side of the car more so than the passenger side.

I have the SW headers and yes notice more normal engine sounds.

You notice more engine noise because the thin-walled tubing used to make the headers doesn't absorb the sound like the factory cast iron headers do.

I can say that I hear a lot more too, even on the 2V with the SW headers

Yes, definitely more noise. I ended up with a rattling sound at part throttle, light load as well that increased with rpm until around 3300. Turned out to be the EGR opening and closing with the exaust pulses of the primary tube it was linked to.

Yes as all have said --and over time, you will find this to be a + as it allows you to "hear" more into the sounds and you will certainly know sooner and faster when 'something' doesn't sound right----

I'm pretty close to being in the same boat....
Best,

My tick is gone! Been gone for a long time. Was the drivers side header gasket.

Tomorrow Im having my gaskets swapped out. When the engine was built they used Fel-pro gaskets, not the OEM blow proof ones so they will swap them out in the morning for me so I have no problems.
Plus the broken EGR will be swapped out and my motor mount shimmed to prevent any rubbing.
I plan to terrorize the streets of NY by tomorrow afternoon. ;)
Thanks for all the info gentlemen.

That's why I said in your original post use OEM gaskets because most of all the aftermarket ones suck! Tried to save you some time and headache.
Been there done that!

I didnt know they swapped them out after the rebuild with aftermarket ones until I got the car home and saw Fel-pro gaskets between the headers. My guy is awesome and bends over backwards to make sure the job is 100% so thats why he told me to bring it in and he'll put the right gaskets in for me.
I'll be turning wrenches with him to get the car out of the shop within a few hours.
Good luck! Looking forward to seeing some video.
You should feel a difference in you mid to high range power.
Besides the blower. That's the BEST POWER MOD that I had done!
I picked up 50RWHP with mine.
Have fun! :burn: :burnout:

My only test drive was in the rain and I broke traction above 3500 RPMs so you are correct about the mid-high range power. ;)
I seriously think our exhaust sound rather close to each other. I have that same rasp that echos off everything under throttle. :burnout:
Video and pics to come soon.
