View Full Version : Roaming the junkyard.....

Ozark Marauder

I was out with a friend yesterday at the junkyard, and noticed a black MGM that had been rear ended. Upon closer inspection the hood was in pristine condition paint-wise. The guy wanted 150.00 for it. :) As my hood is a rock chipped mess  I thought maybe instead of spending 400.00 for a repaint of my hood, I would just switch hoods. Is the MGM paint code the same as the Marauder? Is the marauder hood model specific? Can you just exchange hoods of any panther platform, ie. Crown Victoria, MGM. If so, what are the year ranges of hoods that will fit, 2003 - ?

Thanks for any info..............

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but you should be able to use a 98+ cv or gm hood? Don't think there are any differences. If there is a whole car there you could look at the drivers door paint code...otherwise I *think* blk is blk...but again can't promise...

My plan was to replace my hood and trunk (clearcoat cracking) with a junkyard cv or gm hood and trunk and then have them painted...as it was cheaper than chemical strip.

If you cannot get the paint code from the door jamb and if you are certain of the year, a Dealership should be able to get the paint code for you.

Getting the VIN# would be a plus as well.

However, there may be differences in the way the paint has faded over the years. There's a good chance it won't match exactly.

Not that this post is any help, but I wonder why the Ford paint code for "black" doesn't go back more than 20 years.
