Hi. Are Borg Warner COPs from Peb Boys Ok to use? If not, who makes COPs that are "as good" or better than factory? I say "as good" because I've already gone through two sets (the original COPs and another set at 80K miles). I'm now at 127K miles and that ol' familiar studdering is back.
Thanks

I'm running a set of MSD coils and I love them. I think I'm done buying coils for any of my cars from anybody but MSD. They make really nice stuff.

Ok... just ordered a set of MSD coils. We'll see how they work.

I was going to order the MSD myself, but I thought that even though it comes up as compatible on their search, they say they are for the 2 valve only or something like that.

Just looked at your link. It does say 4v. I hadn't checked their site in awhile but something used to make me hold on pulling the trigger when I used to do the search by car feature. I guess I'll have to buy me a set.

OK, I did the search on MSD by vehicle. And it gives the ones for SOHC only. No wonder I wasn't able to find the right ones.

Yeah, their web site's a little weird that way. If you click on "Shop by product" and then "coils" and then "Ford C-O-P-S" you get to the right parts.

Yep, I've got 161k miles on mine. A lot of s/c guys are running the stock ones with no problems.

By all means use what you like. I think the MSD coils are superior in quality and the guys at Shelby American who did my tuning agreed with me, so that's what I run.

I'm using the Granatelli Pro coils (60K volts) with the cops connectors built in. They are excellent plus lifetime warranty.

MSD is probably the industry standard for performance ignitions & coils. I have been using Accel coils in my supercharged 2V 5.4, and they are good too. As noted, OEM coils DO go bad, as ANY coil can fail. That's why NASCAR cars have dual ignitions. I had 2 or 3 OEM coils fail.

I received the MSD COPs yesterday and threw them in. They're RED! So far, so good but I haven't done any freeway driving with them yet. I'll have a better feel for how well they work by the end of the day.

When I got my 800rwhp marauder dyno tuned at lethal performance they had me leave and return once I removed the Granetteli (sp) high pro cop's...
They had me come back once I put the stock ones & solid cores in... I run up to 7000rpm with no trouble on stockers....

The proper replacement coils should never perform or feel any different than serviceable OEM coils.

Ok... did a lot driving in the hills and mountains above Malibu today and a good amount of freeway driving. The MSD COPs work fine. No problems.

232K miles on my OEM's (with Granatelli connectors) and as far as I can tell they still work fine!!!:bows::banana2:
