Scammers will often steal an ad to try and get dumbass' to send them money.
Hell, some Nigerian even stole my house for rent listing from PA this year and almost had two idiots send him cash.

Last time I left a contact number on CL, I got spammed out the ass with text messages and even recorded phone calls. CL as a service has become almost useless honestly.

i wouldnt say its useless, i buy and sell on there all the time. i just never put my number. i do get tons of spam though but its easy to spot

Maybe they addressed this, but for a while there is was getting impossible to post things. From multiple computers, both logged in and posting anon, my listings would get ghosted, for legit items. Then I surf the listings and I find fake ads all over the place. I guess I'll try it again soon and see if it has improved since I gave up on it...
