Hi,
I've seen a few posts here and there on the site about this but have not found the solution. Has anyone fixed it? Is it the master cylinder or the pedal itself? I've had this issue for a while now.
Thanks,
Gary

I'd try shooting so lube onto the shaft that connects the brake pedal to the booster. Also try to get some inside the boot.

That's what she said.

I'd also check the firewall under the brake booster... see if there is any leakage.

I've had the problem and still do. I asked the dealer to look at it last time I was in. They said it was the shaft-boot interface. they lubed it and it stayed quiet a few weeks and came right back. It seems if that it the problem it needs regular lubes.

Taking mine to shop tomorrow for "crunchy" pedal (under warranty ). Will report what the dealer tells me ..... it better not be bi-weekly lube jobs.

Dealer replaced master cylinder and so far no "crunchy" pedal. Also had heated set LED replaced that bugged the crap outta me when it flashed on and off.

This may sound silly , but check the ABS sensors connected in the rear wheels----mine had come loose and one completely off which gave me the same "feeling".. I did not get a yellow ABS light for almosdt a year until it fell out of its bolt hold.

I'm talking the Marauder to the dealership this upcoming week for the same issue, I'll post their solution when I get home :)

Every CV I've owned had this problem and the fix was to replace the brake booster, lube the dust boot (a real pain) or cut the boot off!!
I cut the boot off of two of them and never had a problem afterwards!!

Got my Marauder back from the dealership today and they solved the issue by having the brake booster replaced; I hope this info helps everyone out! :)

Booster replacment huh? Damn it.
Its lame hauling clients around in my car now. The sound has gotten loud enough that its audible to the them.
Anyway to fix this without doing a booster?

went to the dealer last week...they said the booster was to blame. However they told me it was in no danger of failing so if i could deal with the noise to just leave it. After they told me it would be $600 to replace it i decided i could deal with it for now.

Gary, in addition to the "crunchy" sound from the pedal, I was noticing that the brake pedal had to be pushed w/ more pressure, after the replacement of the brake booster, less effort was required. IMHO, brakes are one of the most important part of vehicle safety and should always be taken care of. $600.00 does sound like a steep price, perhaps trying another dealer or FLAPS, you may find a more economical solution. Just considering the amount of Panther vehicles on the road, [Police, taxis, rentals, etc.] a brake booster for our cars can't possibly be that expensive!

^^^^^^ + 1 ^^^^^^
Travel of pedal and force required is much improved after repair.
