Hey Guys, looks like I might be getting a Marauder sooner than expected, and I wanted to know something;

I always thought that the warranty on a Demo starts the day the dealer first used it, so you end up losing both the time it was on the road and the milleage it did, but I called a dealer in Toronto and he told me that he could have the warranty start the day I buy it... sounds like BS to me, is this true? :help:

Also, I noticed that on the US (http://www.mercuryvehicles.com/vehicles/marauder/fe_wa_warranty.asp) website the warranty is 3/36k Bumper to Bumper and 5 years only on Corrosion but on the Canadian (http://www.ford.ca/main/default.asp?language=en&section=1&sVehCategory=FordCars&model=Marauder) website the warranty comes up as 3/60k (60km = 36miles) bumper to bumper and 5/100k powertrain, is the Canadian Warranty better?

Thanks

To my knowlege it is the service date, not the day you buy it. The same with all Ford Products.

My MM was a demo and the warranty started on the "in service" date, I lost 4K miles and 7 months.

If it is a dealer Demo I do think it starts on the day when the vehicle is titled!

Where in Montreal are you located? Is this a Montreal demo car?

Mine was a demo persay...the dealership ceo drove it from august '02 till I bought it in January '03, it had about 2000 miles on it. The warranty started as soon as he started driving it, therefore I was 5 months into the warranty when I recieved it. Got it for 27k though, and that's not bad.

As I understand it, the warranty starts as soon as that badboy is titled or registered. If that demo has been plated, the warranty is running as we speak....

Thanks to Mark Rush, I purchased the 6 year extended bumper2bumper for 25% off cost...far below the 1k normal.

I always thought the factory warranty started the day it was SOLD to someone, not the day a Ford representative (i.e. the dealer) started beating on it using dealer plates... Any insurance agents out there?

Mine was a demo as well and the service date started a year before I bought it.

I opted for the 7 year/150,000km service plan. Basically bumper to bumper, except oil, tires and wipers.

Worth the piece of mind IMHO.

I'm from the south shore, one demo is in Sainte-Anne-de-la-Pérade and the other one is in London, On
There's not much nearby, Dupont Ford has one (20 seconds drive from my place) but its still new. I do have the XPlan but a demo will still be way cheaper :D

My car was a demo too. Here's the explanation -

The warrantee starts the day of delivery, not when the car was put into demo service. An Oasis check verifies this, because the warantee "start" date is the day I took delivery.

HOWEVER, the mileage on the car is not pro-rated. Whatever is on the car is counted against the 36,000 miles. Mine had 6,000 miles, so I only really had 30,000 miles left on the warrantee, even though I still had 3 years.

Today I wanted to get my "free" alignment because of whay is obviously something set incorrectly from the factory. No dice. Even though I had 6000 on the clock and have only driven it 9000, they told me "no warrantee alignments after 12K"

I'm sure Ray could definitively answer this question.
