I ordered the ones they say to use on their website, but they will not collapse all the way down? They were keeping the center of the hood up a good 1/2" or more and starting to put a crease in the hood where the hinges bolt up.

I took them off awhile ago and just now wanting to get something to work. Anyone else have any issues? Is something i'm not seeing adjustable?

Mine do the same thing, since I drive it maybe once a week, I figured out of site, out of mind. I have been looking for an alternative with no luck.

Have you called the hood manufacturer?

The first issue is the fact that they changed up the hood strut model # for one that was not as stiff (twss), it may be possible that someone will have to call and make them aware of the issue.

I know that mine are almost too long, they could stand to be 1/2" shorter. I have searched available records and specs but couldn't come up with a suitable replacement, I thought about just using Dzus fasteners up the sides.

Or, actually, a couple of sets of these up the sides, I am already using a set as hoodpins.......

Not as of yet. After paint defects, then this, I was done caring for a spell. But my OCD simply can't "let it go" or "deal with it".. :D I'm not glad to hear others are having issues, but at least I'm not alone!

With the hinges off, and a couple days for the fiberglass to settle, the hood fit perfect.

My hood doesnt lay flush with fenders. Never even thought it could be an issue with the new struts. Hmm...... What to do, what to do?

Mine didn't sit flush either, I drilled a slightly larger hole on the hood latch bracket so I could slide it up just a hair to allow the bracket to sit higher which brought the hood down to flush, then adjusted the hood stop bumpers to get the fenders flushed.

If the underside doesn't have paint or a coating on it the hood flexes more that I noticed.

Bob, the one side of Chris's hood does not sit flush either. Are you using the 28lb struts and not the OEM? If you need the part number I can get it for you in a day or so.

I have the same thing going on with mine, looks like the hood is bent & sits up where the front stut mounts. Can't get it to sit flush.

Maybe a prop rod is the way to go?

Even without the struts the hood will not sit flush. The mold is/was not perfect, it was meant to be used with hood pins to secure it down, thus making it flush.

Gordon, I am using the exact ones they indicated. I also learned that if one side is high, then that actually translates to the other side is too low. Raise the lower sides adjuster and the high side should come down from pivoting on the latch. Hope that helps.

Guy's, take the struts off and give the hood a couple days in the sun and you will be AMAZED at how good it fits. The lines are perfect. I was thinking about a prop rod myself, but I just can't stand the looks. I will contact classglass in the next couple days to let them know there is a problem here on many cars.

See if they would be interested in building a Shelby GT 500 style hood.

That is one thing I hate about my Classglass hood. The bending due to gas struts even a light pressure set that will BARELY keep the hood up.

I just run mine without the struts but I keep them with me and use them as prop rod whenever I have to do anything under the hood. It is major PITA, but I'll deal with it for now until I get my stock one modified.

Damn Whipple 3.4! I wouldn't even have this hood otherwise!

isn't that a King of the Road edition of the Super Snake?

It could be. I typed in Shelby GT 500 and it is one of the pics that came up.

I would like to see a couple of variations of this hood to see if it could work on the MM. I've seen a similar one on a members car(?) and it is a good start but there is something not quite right with it in my opinion.:)

I seen that one in person Eric. GREAT work and all metal, but it just doesn't look right to be. It belongs on a mustang with a curved hood.
