My friend recently got an 04 MM into his junk yard with a smashed front end. My lcm has been acting up for about a year now. My question is will and 04 lcm work on an 03?

It will work. However, Why not have FastBlackMerc fix yours or sell you an already fixed one when there is a chance that the one that you pull out of the totalled MM is also a dud?

PM me for a great deal!

BTW... the '03 & '04 LCMs are interchangeable.

Jim, do you have detailed instructions on removing the LCM like you did the EATC? Mines getting worse and having two cars I think maybe I'll just send it to you for repair. Thanks bud

Well this one I have in hand for free so I'm gonna give it a wirl. I'll be sure to contact you if it is indeed a dud. The installation looks pretty simple is there any tricks I should know? I see a few bolts and a few plugs.

LCM Removal:

The LCM is about the size of a brick and is located just to the right of the steering column, in front of the gas pedal and above the ODBC2 connector. There are 3 electrical connectors on the LCM.

Remove the bottom two connectors by depressing the tab and pulling on the connector.

Removal the 2 mounting screws with a 7mm nut driver or socket.

Push the LCM towards the gas pedal while rotating it up towards the roof.

Once it’s free of the bracket, pull the LCM down towards the floor.

You should now be able to release the last electrical connector.

Just reverse the steps for reinstallation.

Might be a good idea to have the bad one fixed...
