Thanks mike we appreciate it! Now we'll know at what we'd lose on the car if it was ever traded. Dads trying to get insurance to pay for the devalue.

Good LUCK with that. The Ins Co is still in business to make money, not give it away. They'll make you an offer and stand by it, it's up to you whether you take it. Besides it's a longer process for you to make the claim. How old is the car & how many miles? You'll have to pay $400 or so to have a independent even look at the vehicle, submit a report. You'll have to go to court and sue for the difference. If it's under $5000 no lawyer will take it because it will be in small claims court.

At one time a few years or so ago Ins Co was offering full replacement value for vehicles under three years of age. IIRC anything over a certain age they'll let you foot the court cost.

They totaled the car at repairs costs of $9800 or higher. We've had it fixed for $9200. Then dads paying 1k out of pocket for a full Repaint. Car was not totaled.
