My friend Lenny just won this car on ebay for $13.5K. It has 39K miles with a Vortech water to air setup, badgeless grill, colex fluid caps, and the steering wheel badge so its looking like a former member may have owned this car.
According to carfax the car was either traded in or sold in 2008, then went to auction in early 2009 where it sat for 3 yrs on a dealer lot and only picked up a extra 3K miles on it.
A few things I have a issue with, the seller says the install was done 3 years ago, but the carfax says the car wasn't registered around that time, also the seller has no receipts, but makes all kinds of claims about what the car has done to it. He also has no tuner to go with the car but said it has 9:1 compression pistons and reworked heads.
It came out of MA originally and is now located in Rhode Island. I was asked to go to take a ride yesterday to go look at it but no way Im riding 3 hours with a storm on its way.

These badges or engine look familiar to anyone?

The owner said water to air. I have no clue about the Vortechs. We are supposed to go out and take a look at it this weekend and see what the story is. Just no info on the engine or whats in it has us thinking twice.

This is one of those deals that has questionable origin in supertunning and that is why it sat -it is probably ok. most used cars are a gamble. At any angle it is still a decent buy.

Heres the update on this. Lenny called the guy and told him that we were coming up to look at the car over the weekend and that he's bringing a few friends who know about the car and give it a once over. The guy flipped and said "You're not bringing anyone, I don't need your friends bashing my car! Ill just keep the damn thing" Not the right attitude when selling a car. Lenny said hes not arguing price either, he's coming with cash he worked hard for so he wants to be sure hes getting his moneys worth, the guy went on a tangent and hung up on him.

A few red flags are that the guy is a car dealer and refused to issue a temp tag for us to drive the car home, he also is selling this car out the back door and not through his dealer which means he won't have to honor any warranty on it and the car MUST pass inspection for him to sell it. We're not sure if any emission equipment has been removed or whats shut off in the tune since the guy who has the car for 3 years has zero clue about anything!
The owner made bold claims about what the car has and what it can do but has no reciepts, no tuner, no dyno sheets, no nothing to back up any claims of 480hp, 12 second timeslips and a built engine with 9:1 pistons installed.

Lenny walked away from it, it may be a giant headache which may even blow up on his way home since the seller gets annoyed answering any questions about the car and refuses anyone to come and look at it. :shake:

The deal is dead in the water so he will no doubt relist the car in the very near future. The price is right but it may end up costing you more in the long run not knowing anything about what was done to it.
