hey guys, i was just kicking around the idea of purchasing a new car... perhaps an STi..i know i know... or a bmw m3. Then i thought. why not supercharge my marauder? anyways... i have 36k miles on the car is it still worth putting it on or it my engine peak on its way down?

With proper care...why would your Marauder not last for another 75K+ or so. Fiancially speaking...I would think an additional 8K for a S/C would make much more sense that the hit you'll take on sale or trade-in on the Marauder just to pic up another equal or greater note. Unless your Marauder is clear...then it would be MUCH more wise to spend $ on the Marauder rather than go "Bimmer" on us.

I expect to have over 30k miles on the MM before I get it 'charged'
I figure I will have run into any major factory defects by them and won't mind kissing the bulk of the warranty goodbye.

I have 40,000 on my car. 5,000 plus of that is with the S/C. No one could tell me how long the motor will last so I just went for it. I am very happy with the results so far. I have had zero trouble since Lidio has put my S/C on. KNOCK ON WOOD. Good luck with you decision but if you want my opinion GO FOR IT.

I agree with TAF. Keep the Marauder and install the supercharger. :)

If I were you, I'd stick with the MM and blow it.
There may be some grounds to question the internal strength of the 4.6L DOHC bottom end, but not only are improvements available, whole engines are plentiful now, and cheap too. If you're worried about all that, pull your stock engine and rebuild it. Lowering the compression and hardening the internals is cheaper than you think.
You now own one rare automobile and you can make it more unique, and still not spend the money it will take to get into the BMW. The MM is timeless, it's the '57 Chevy all over again. I say hold on to what you have, build it up a little and have more fun with it than any BMW flavor of the day.

Like I said-- do it-- I was where your where with mods when I did mine--less mileage , but that doesn't matter--see what Mac said --he's right----so go ahead and S/C the MM , keep her forever--why not?
Oh I'm having so much fun--you could too--what you really need --is to drive a S/C MM-any in your area?--that would sway your thoughts --for sure--
