Looking at offering a kit to add 2 LED bulbs to each tail light.

The kit would include:

Detailed instructions
4 - 30+ SMD LED bulbs
4 - sockets
Wiring and connectors

The only "special" tool you'll need is a hole saw.

By adding additional sockets for the LEDs you don't need to use resistors.

Price - $100.00 (shipping included)

If you want to use LED bulbs in all of the tail light sockets I can supply the bulbs, flasher and instruction to fix the rapid flashing. Of course the cost will be more.

I am very interested in how those turn out Todd. Is it possible to include a brighter set of bulbs for the reverse lights with this kit? and maybe a third tail light.

I Always thought why have reverse lights if they don't actually give you any real light output. I guess to let others you are backing up before you run them over?

Just doing the bulbs.....

Will look into taking apart the lenses to do LED strips. Or maybe lots of individual LEDs.

Much brighter, plus you'd be adding 2 extra bulbs per side.

NXSBOB
08-29-2011, 08:07 AM
They do make bulbs that have leds all around the sides and back to reflect on back but there not cheap and I don't know if they work well. Say you put them in, you have to change flasher, the one in there won't work well, flashes really fast. Thats why they talk about resistors with led on a newer cars. The flasher is part of light module and can't be changed. Marauder ??

This is a picture of a real led tail light.

I had them for a 65 mustang and it was strips of led lights, you could put them behind the lens.

it simple when your looking at your taillights from the back side where the lightsockets are, just below them is and area where the taillight would of had the turn single for a crown vic but for our cars its sealed off but just cut out 2 1inch hole below each primary socket and install the new bulbs you will produce alot more light from your tail for sure!

They look like snow flakes.
^Pretty much or a star/star burst (not the candy lol). In CV or GM lenses they would be much more noticeable but with ours not so much since they are slightly tinted and especially if you have the S55 treatment done to the reverse lights.

" The V-STAR has 24 radial firing LED's that fire perfectly into the chrome reflectors of your cars lamp assembly creating a sparkling effect, and 62 Forward firing LED's to fill out the front of the lens."

Whenever the rain stops here this week I'll take a daytime pic and post it.

Not trying to hijack your thread FBM, just posting up an example.

They are 4-5x brighter than the normal bulb. I have the S55 treatment on my reverse lights and plenty of light still gets through.

FBM, you should try and see if you can find something similar to these to sell. The forward firing LEDs make the biggest difference instead of just having the radial ones but when combined, optima lighting is achieved.
