Megs Marauder 4" and 3.50" Exhaust Tips

I’ve received several requests regarding 4” outlet Marauder tips. We haven’t run them in many years but are considering it if we can get enough pre-orders.


Specs: These 4” tips will be identical to the 4” tips that we ran once about four years ago. There were/are some differences compared to the OE/Megs 3.50” outlet tips:

3.50” Tip (ST627)
304 stainless steel, bright polish with Megs logo. 2.25” (ST627) or 2.50” inlet (ST627-250), 26” long, 3.50” outlet with rolled edge at a 27 degree angle. No resonator. Retail price $100 per tip. Shipping cost, UPS Ground Continental US, $20 per pair. International orders (normal range $60-$120 depending on location).

4.00” Tip (ST640)
304 stainless steel, bright polish with Megs logo. 2.50” inlet only, 26” long, 4.00” outlet with rolled edge at a 15 degree angle. No resonator. Retail price $120 per tip. Approximate shipping cost, UPS Ground Continental US, $30 per pair. International cost to be determined, but anticipated packaging will be 18 pounds per set, in a 32” x 8” x 8” box.

Terms & Conditions: We would need committed pre-paid orders for at least 20 sets (40 tips), before we could begin production. We take your order and credit card information; however no charges are processed until the minimum production quantity is reached. At that time your credit card would be charged as the order goes into production.

Incentives:
On the 3.50” we have offered pre-production specials with a 10% discount and free shipping as an incentive to place a fully prepaid order in advance. Orders from stock after production were at full price.

With the 4” we will not be discounting the price as there won’t be any additional stock built beyond pre-orders. We will offer free UPS Ground shipping for continental US customers and a $30 credit for all other shipping.

Timing:
It all depends on how long it takes to get enough orders for 20 sets. The earliest start of production would be early November and latest would be to ship prior to Mid-December. If we have not received enough orders by 11/1 then the program would be cancelled. No charges will be made to customers until after the decision has been made to go forward with production.

Order Placement: Please send Cone Engineering at: sales@coneeng.com. Please include name and shipping info, quantity and a telephone contact number. DO NOT INCLUDE CREDIT CARD INFO. We will give you a call at a later date to get that information. You will receive via email a confirming sales order as verification that we received your order. If you don’t get the Sales Order confirmation within a few days then please contact us.

And you can throw a post up here on this thread and elsewhere to brag about getting in on the deal. I’ll be posting updates, hopefully weekly, to let you know how we are doing on the pledge drive.

We will also take orders for the next run of 3.50” tips for production at approximately the same time. The 3.50” tips will have a pre-paid/pre-order incentive as in the past (10% off and free shipping*) and will also have a minimum run of 20 sets. However the 3.50” may have additional stock available after the run at the full price.

Saw a couple of questions on another thread regarding the offer so here's a shot at clarification:

The 4" tips are $120 per tip, $240 per set. We need to receive pre-paid orders for at least 20 sets in order to go into production.

As an incentive we are including free shipping in continental US via UPS Ground. If you are outside the US we will give a credit of $30 against the shipping cost or if you want them expedited ship in US (you can wait 2 months to run but have to have then next day on shipping...) then we will also credit you $30 against shipping cost. So the "all-in" cost for a domestic US customer is $240 per set, including UPS Ground shipping.

Hope that explains it a little more?

Another question regarded the angle of the tip outlet 4" vs 3.50". For the volume we are building it is cost prohibitive to build a specific roll-over die for the 4" so we are using an existing die that has less angle. We'd need to sell 1000 units to justify the new die cost and we want to make it possible to actually get these into production!

Now that Im an "outside observer" I'll say those 4" tips look better than the OEMs to my eyes because they fill the cutout in the rear bumper cover a little better. These are a no-brainer (along with the OEM bumper covers in the other thread).

Thanks cwright, i do have a question. Did the marauders come stock with megs tips from the factory? And were the resinators removeable? My tips now have the megs logo on them and theres a little hole in the bottom of each one of my current tips and wasnt sure if that was there to hold the resinator or for something else?

Megs exhaust tips are OEM on the Marauder.

The stock resonators are note easily removable. I believe the 4" tips have no resonators.

The small hole at the end on the tip is foe draining condensation so it doesn't stay behind the rolled edge.

Hey all,

Just got back into town and wanted to check in. If you have sent in an order email and have not gotten a confirmation, it is waiting in my inbox. if you don't receive a confirm by Wedn (remember Monday is a holiday) then please send another email - label it "second request" so we don't get any duplicates.

I saw a few questions here on the post and in PM's that I thought I would try and clear up.

The tips are a weld-on, not slip-on. And they should also need to have a hanger fabricated as well. We found that very few cars have an exhaust system that was in the same location as they originally came so the first replacement batch we made with hangers had problems. Now we do them without the hangers as we fund every good installer could do the hangers at the same time.

Also asked about the original resonator tips. In such limited runs it isn't possible to do them with cores at a reasonable cost.

And yes the 3.5" Megs were the original OE tip on the Marauder. They were going to be non-resonated from the start but in pre-prodcution testing the cars turned out to be a little loud for OE sound requirements.

We're up to 16 sets sold of the 4" tips so only 4 sets away from our minimum needed to run production. Keep sending in those orders!

On the 3.50" only one order has been placed.

On a side note:
You got a pic of the other end. If they're like the res delete Megs, you'll have to weld on a section (adapter) or weld to new over axle pipe, to get them to sit at the stock position or the 1" extended.

If that was you please email him back and tell him if you want the 3.5" or the 4" and he will be able to confirm your order. So, on Friday we hit our minimum quantity needed to go into production on the 4" tips. Our October schedule is fully booked so production for these will end up beginning in early November as originally planned , with an expected completion/shipping date of Mid-December as indicated on your sales order confirmation.

In mid-October we'll begin tracking everyone down to get your credit card information . Charges will then be processed in early November when the tips begin production. If you would like to call us with your card information early, we'd appreciate the help. Whether you call early or we call you later, they'll still all get run in November.

Unfortunately we only have orders for one set of 3.50" tips so unless we get many more orders in the next few weeks, the plans to run those will have to be shelved.

So now there is a thin area at the top of my tips with black spray paint on them. Is there something that can remove this without marring the chrome which is in good shape. In other words, if I get on these with paint thinner will the chrome be destroyed? Are the tips trash?

Paint thinnner, Goof Off, lacquer thinner....

Unless you use something abrasive you won't damage the chrome.

They're not chrome...stainless steel. Use paint remover if you want you can't hurt em.

I was the one order Rich had for the smaller tips and I'm bummed. Can't believe there weren't any bites even on CVN. The 4" look VERY good, but I just like the stock look better. I was wanting a spare set, soooooo if any of you who take off your stock size to put on the bigger ones.....and want to sell me your tips (in awesome condition for a reasonable price, of course), I'd take them off your hands!

You people are amazing... This has been posted back in September of 2011 and on other web-sites. Now that orders have been placed and paid for you want those of us to wait for you. The deadline was set for November 1, people have kept this thread alive for days before the deadline to get the word out. I pointed out that if you miss this one there maybe a 4 year or so wait and people responded with orders.

Check the Marauders parts for sale section, some maybe showing up.

Worked 22 hours straight, walked into the house to see these and it wasn't such a bad day. Wish I was installing them soon but I have plans for changes to the exhaust and will just do it then. I've wanted these for years and just couldn't pass up this round.

They're not chrome...stainless steel. Use paint remover if you want you can't hurt em.

Used some pretty nasty paint thinner and the tips look great now. With my luck there would have been some exotic coating on there. Thanks! :beer:

2in connector. adjust the jack stand at the end of the tip then jack up the tip up close to the bumper for that angle look. when you remove the jack the tip will fall slightly. midas 30bucks

Sounds better. Try to extend the tip out a bit as the goods says it helps with drone

I'm not sure if extend the tip past the bumper has any effect on drone. What we normally recommend is extending the tail pipe into the tip a ways to keep up the velocity of the exhaust pulse.

The exhaust has a deeper healthier tone at idle to them and relieved a little back pressure [so it seamed ]:banana2: also a slight resonance at 55 to 60 mph then it goes away [ magnaflo mufflers ]

Around September/October I will start putting out feelers to see if there is enough demand for a new production run of either the 4" or 3.50" tips. I would expect that as before there will be a pre-buy special for the forum.

I would recommend checking with Rich first. He has certain times of the year he slows down and that is what allowed our run to take place. They have many tips in production and have to supply auto manufacturers. If he can't get to them in a timely matter it would cause some people out here to be impatient and cancel orders. I would stay close to him on when he can do this and allow him to post it up out here. Good luck with your run and if I can help let me know.:beer:

In reading the quoted email from Rich at Cone Eng, does he mean (1) they need at least 30 commitments for both sizes in order to do the production run; or (2) just 30 commitments for one of the sizes in order to start the production for that size?

In other words, will they do the 4" tips if we get a minimum of 30 peeps lined up for the 4" tips?

Just thinking it would be easier to get people lined up for the 4" size as that is what appears to be the coveted item rather than the 3.5" size.

I'm down for a 4" set

In reading the quoted email from Rich at Cone Eng, does he mean (1) they need at least 30 commitments for both sizes in order to do the production run; or (2) just 30 commitments for one of the sizes in order to start the production for that size?

In other words, will they do the 4" tips if we get a minimum of 30 peeps lined up for the 4" tips?

Just thinking it would be easier to get people lined up for the 4" size as that is what appears to be the coveted item rather than the 3.5" size.


That is what he did for us last year. He didn't get enough for the 3.5" but we did for the 4" and made the run. I hope you guys are able to make this happen again. :beer:
