What gears did you have now ?

It also depends on your tire diameter. If you have 18" rims, 4.10s will be fine...if 16" or 17", then 3.73s will be better.

Depnds on your application. Daily driver, drag use, highway cruiser? they all could use a different gear set.
Drag without power adders - 4.56
Drag with power adders - 4.10
Street use in town mainly- 4.10
Highway mainly - 3.73 or 4.10

With a 28" tall tire you can run a 4.30 gear without any problems, it produces the same RPMs at 60mph as the setup the mustang guy use which is a 4.10 gear and a 26" tire.
Wheel diameter has nothing to do with gearing.

What about the rpms at highway speed 80mph? Will this be harder on the driveline than 4:10 gears?

Steeper gears (4.30s) are easier on the driveline than lower gears (4.10s).

80mph
Gears/RPMs
4.10 - 2736
4.30 - 2869
70mph
4.10 - 2400
4.30 - 2510
A heavy car with no tq needs steeper gears than a lighter car with the same engine/trans combo. Adding taller tires to the heavy car makes the gear requirement even shorter. I would not run anything less than a 4.10 gear in an FI combo or 4.30s with n/a.

Wheel diameter has nothing to do with gearing. You misinterpreted my answer. 4.10 gears with a smaller-diameter tire will result in more revs-per-mile than with a taller one. Tire diameter changes the effective final drive ratio, so yes, it DOES play a part in determining whether 4.10s or 3.73s would be more appropriate for a given use.

Like I said, wheel diameter doesn't matter, but tire diameter does.
You can put a 28" tall tire on 17", 18" and 20" wheels, all would have the same final ratio.

70mph
4.10 - 2440rpm
4.30 - 2561rpm
Just for reference, a 26" tire puts the RPMs at 2667 and with that the mustang guys have no problems. However, even with the 4.10s the RPMs the end of the quarter mile are still well below 7k.

So how would 4.30s work on a centri. blower Marauder with cobra cams? Would you suggest going back to 4.10s or keep 4.30s?

With a centri I would go with cobra cams advanced to a 108LC and 4.10s.

na svt you're nit-picking...most times with smaller diameter wheels, the tires will be smaller diameter as well.
Unless you like the ricer look with 24" rims and 20-series tires... :D

"Most of the time" that is the case, but there are people running 28" tall tires on both 15 and 17 inch wheels. The last thing we want to do is assume everyone knows what we're talking about.:D

You won't like 4.30's if your MM is a daily driver.

I'm going with 4.10s for my set-up. BTW, who would you recommend in our area for installing gears?

If you have the power, 2.73 is the way to go. More top end for Bonneville or cruising at 100mph. At ~600rwhp with a supercharger you need to kill the bottom end to get traction and lift the front wheels if you do hook up.
