Not sure a 5.0 will fit without some work, a 5.4 is too tall to fit under the hood.
A 4.6 2003-04 Cobra or Lincoln Aviator engine will also work, but you'll need to change the front skirt to clear the Marauder frame.

i think the 5.0 will fit since they fit jus fine in a vic and the marauder being DOHC is alil bigger so i think it will but not sure. As for the 5.4 they have an adapter plate for the intake manifold to fit the 4.6 intake manifold cuz its the same engine and they are both modular. And thanks for the info on the 03-04 cobra engine but i thought those were S/C will that S/C fit under a stock hood?

IIRC, the deck height on the 5.4 is taller than the 4.6, creating clearance issues.
As for the Cobra S/C fitting under the hood, I can personally confirm that one...

Corba block with the OEM front skirt will require notching the frame for clearance, however, if you swap out the skirt from the bad MM engine, it'll drop right in.

The old 5.0 pushrod is not going to work. The new 5.0 mod motor would cost too much to do (better off buying a marauder that actually runs!). A 5.4 dohc is going to be too wide and too tall plus the cost of modding everything to work even if it could (again better off buying a marauder that actually runs). The only time a 5.0L motor was in a Vic was back in the 80's and early 90's LTD box body days.
The adapter plates are to make the the 4.6L intake fit 5.4L heads. They are not the same engine, do they come from the same engine family though as far as design.
Do you even have the car or just found it and now trying to track down a motor so you can then buy the car?

You can check Dennis Reinhart in Orange Park, Florida and see if he still has my engine, it had 17K on the clock.

Might be wise to go ahead and get the car before someone else does.
Also what exactly went up on the motor?

What do you consider cheap?
If you're getting the car for $3K, you can afford to sink a couple grand in replacing the motor and still be money ahead.

A Marauder has a 4v motor. A Crown Vic has a 2v motor.....
If you have an 8 grand limit then you are not going to find a car and have money left over for mods unless you find an MM that has been beat the piss out of. Maybe you should look into getting a CVPI for the mean time until down the road when you can find a nice running MM.

That $8K limit isn't going to get you too far, even if you can pick up that one with the bad motor for $3,000. A couple grand for a decent engine and installation; add on the cost of rims (prolly $200 each for black chrome), around $400 for a tune and anywhere from $200 to $1,500 for "minor" bolt-ons (CAI, 4.10 gears, control arms, sway bars, etc.) and you've hit your limit. Anything else goes wrong on the car you're S.O.L...

It may be cheap but the Marauder comes with a 4v. Why would you put a lesser motor in a vehicle than it comes with stock and then have to reverse engineer stuff to work with the 2v motor? lol
If an MM owner put a 2v motor in their car, I hope they would never waste their money in doing so and if they did I hope they would never post up that abomination on this site.

I got 1 in my car right now, runs like a champ! Comes with a 36 month/100k mile warranty. Obviously the issue is finding a decent shop to do the swap. Get it done for under $2k and you're in business.

Agreed. Ain't gonna be a drop in, for sure.

To a degree but a 2V engine with the 4V injectors and MAF should run reasonably well on the Marauder PCM... It really should be a '03 or '04 2V so it would swap with a minimum of modifications('05 up has DBW, '02 down used a return fuel system, different oil pan, etc), still there will be many small details to work out., won't be a drop in by any means...
I look at it like this, with a different engine at least it's still on the road and is still a possible candidate for the 4V at a later date... If it doesn't get some sort of a engine, not much doubt of it becoming a parts car(I can see the vultures circling now)...
Me, I'd buy the car and just wait for the right deal on the correct engine or maybe a Cobra short/long block... In '97 I bought a '88 Turbo Coupe with the intentions of building and installing a hot rod 5.0, was two years before I finally got around to doing the swap...

If you have 8k to play with and you can get the car for 3k. Why not just get the car and then have the stock engine rebuilt? Then you wont have to worry about dishing out for another motor and which could potentially be bad itself or let go soon after its installed then you're back to square one and out some money.
If it was me, I'd have the stock motor checked out and go from there.

No one has done a 5.0 mod motor swap probably because it's too costly as of right now.
The 5.0 mod motor has a totally different intake system so unless you have more than 8k to spend with just on the motor swap alone I would keep your eyes focused on a 4.6L 4v dohc motor.
The motor in the one you wanted to buy is repairable so just get it fixed and get on the road.

Plus you said it has 35k miles on it. If that's the only problem (current engine problems) and they are fixed fingers crossed you should get a whole lot more miles out of it.

Not a bad idea if you can afford it, as the engines from Ford come with a warranty.

I'm gonna bump my own post in this thread. Check this link above. It's a MM long block, all machined and rebuilt with OEM parts. Comes with a nice warranty for about $2500 (you pay about $3k but you get $495 for the core return). Get it swapped in for under $2K and you're in business, with a warranty, for under $5k. I got 1 and had it swapped for much less than $2k. Company is easy to work with and they moved quick.
