While I haven't heard of this before, I did experience a fuel line rupture Wednesday while driving off the dealership's lot on another matter.

The driver behind me blew his horn in an incessant manner alerting me that something was wrong. I stopped and he told me fuel was pouring out of the bottom of my car. He could smell it two car lengths back.

We got the car back on the dealership's lot and left it for them to repair.
Turns out the metal clamp on the tank side of the fuel filter had worn through the line.

My car has 100K mile so it might be worth your time to inspect that connection/line. FWIW.

Regards,

Pat

Unless you changed the fuel line / filter configuration there is no clamp on the fuel filter / fuel line. The line fits into the filter and there is a "key" that keeps the line in place.

I do change the filter at the dealership every 15 K as recommended, bite your tongue. The clip or clamp is a part listed item and the dealership has ordered one for me. They used a plastic tie strap as a temp fix.

In the past I used a plastic tie strap to secure the clip as a back up. IT is a little tricky getting the tie strap on.

I dont trust the dealership ever since they changed my fuel filter and were nice enough to reapply underbody coating over the new filter...........:argue:...... . Just saying Hasnt been to the dealer since

If he meant the filter hold-down clamp, how the heck did that rub through a fuel line?

If he meant the filter hold-down clamp, how the heck did that rub through a fuel line? Agree, a picture of the problem would be really helpful

I think someone at the dealer Screwed you like everyone els. The only thing you should be doing from a dealer is buying a used car or getting a hard to find oem part

That does not make sense. The clips that hold the hose to the line are fragile and should be changed with the filter. When the break you can hold them in place with a wire tie.

Yes, I'm referring to a small hose clamp, not the big contraption that hold is filter in place. And yes it's does seem a bit of a hassle to get it on.

There is no hose clamp on the filter/hose connection. There are clips. Changing the filter can break the clips. You can hold them in with a wire tie. If they just stuck them back in broken they will fall out.

I have 4 small hose clamps on mine but I also eliminated the 90 degree bends and went to a 3" fuel filter (kit that Travis sold when he was on here).

On an unmolested Marauder there should be no hose clamps anywhere near the fuel line other than the one that secures the filter to its holder and it should be on the filter.
