I'd like to thank Tim Barth for taking time out from his busy schedule to base tune my car today.
Tim gave me a start up tune to get running a couple of weeks ago but it took 3 reflashes and 50% more fuel to keep it running.
Heres a list of whats been done so far.

MMR 1500S (1500 RWHP 5.0 10.1cr) short block
Heads freshend with new valves, comp coated springs and titanium retainers
4.0 WHIPPLE with crusher intake
3 Jay Racing 342 fuel pumps (return style)
-10 feed and -8 return lines
105LB injectors
E85 fuel
Level 4 trans and Circle D triple@ 2800 stall

I asked Tim to just set the fuel trims, get it running good and no boost or more than 4000 rpm so I could break the motor and trans in but he talked me into a couple of half pulls.
So heres the results.
Car made 490hp and 630trq. with only 10 degs at 4000 rpm on his conservative dyno (not sure what the boost was).
What do you guys think my final numbers will be at around 20lbs.???

god damn dtub, thats fawking beautiful! those number are equally fawking ridiculous at that rpm and boost. id say itll be in the high 700s for sure but thats just a guess.

this is definitely the best looking mm engine in any mm anywhere

Oh my God Doug!! Holy Sht!! Conservative tune 630+tq!! I'd say 730hp and 780tq

I'd be afraid to breath on that engine. It's a museum piece!!

Jonesing to see this in person for the final dyno tune!!!

Beautiful!!!

I would have but they don't make one bigger that actually fits.

Theres nothing wrong with a DTR especially one as nice as yours.

I'd like to see 800 but that would probably take more boost than a 10.1 E85 tuned motor can handle.
Custom cams and ported heads might get it there though.

Yes take your car to Tim if your any where close to Rockford il.

Tim had to pretty much start from scratch on my car because of all the major changes I made but he got it dialed in with in an hour.

He said that most of the cars that come in like mine usually take half a day to get right so he said I did a pretty good job.

It was kinda cool standing there watching, looked like the car wanted to jump straight up.

Thanks Bob and more than happy to be your motivater.
806/834 would probably need C16.

Motor and trans only had about 10 miles of break in so I didn't want to push to hard just get it running good.
I'd like to run more boost but getting conflicting opinions on this.
Tim says 17 max but some of the guys on SVT claim mid 20's are no problem so I'll have to do some more head scratching.

There must be some detail im missing that anyone would suggest low psi on your car. 3 pumps and e85 =25-30 psi all day long. There is absolutely no reason that car wont make north of 900 even with the auto and 25+psi

Theres a lot of debate going on right now over how much boost can be run on higher compression motors using E85.
Some people claim they actually gained power over C16 so I guess for now I'll do some more research, keep it safe and lean on it next season.

The question becomes, what is more useful? I don't want to search for e85, don't want to depend on race gas access, and don't want to risk breaking my major investment in the engine. I'm ok with 751 on 91 octane pump gas. I know I could pulley up the blower and add some timing and get close to 900, but I'm satisfied with a 91 or 93 octane pump gas tune for everyday use.

What compression ratio you got, Brian?

FordNut
09-06-2011, 06:58 PM
It's supposed to be 9.5:1, so I think I should be able to go to 20 psi on 93 octan. But if I were to take a trip and be stuck with 91 I might have problems.

DTUB, why did you go high comp with the 4.0 blower? I know E85 is good but man I'm sure that blower wants to spin and make some boost.

DTUB
09-07-2011, 11:27 AM
I went with 10.1 because I didn't want to loose any off idle throttle response.
Just trying to copy what the blown alky guys are doing but I think I'll put a KC on it too be safe.

I just ordered mine today with the drag kit. (GB)
We need to figure out a way to keep the HE in the loop when you want it for cooler days but automatically switch between the two when you throw the air on that way its fool proof.
