So I have yet to here of anyone trying cobra LT's and I ran across a decent deal on a ceramic coated set and I figured why not at least try it? Passenger side fit easily, but to close to the trany for my liking, so a little fire was in order. :) Next up, drivers side. NOPE. Not even close! Engine raised a full inch or more, mount removed, shifter cable bracket removed, nope, close, but fail. Not to mention primary 5 and 6 lined up dead center of the steering!
I was a little peeved, so I took a brake Saturday and just played with the kids. About to put it back to stock yesterday, I couldn't accept defeat! So some modding was in order..
BTW 1 5/8 fencing posts are the EXACT pipe replacement for these mild steels. Wall thickness, material, ID, and OD!
Gonna try and get this pressure tested this week ay work. Anyone have a clue what PSI. I should expect it to hold? I'm quite sure there will be some pinholes to address, I just don't want it to trip a lean code.

Headers look badssa. Justtorch the rust on that undercarriage, too. I haven't seen an undercarriage that unkempt since Case's prom date.

Hoping to, that is if my guy doesn't want a million bucks.. Save? Nothing if you add up the hours and recoat. It was more of a recoop of loss after I had scratched it up trying to get it to work. $449 shipped for headers. $115 shipped for a MAC off road X, Material ran me $12 plus probably another $15 in mig wire and grinding wheel.
If budget allows, I'll get them recoated, if not?? Wrap, paint? I don't plan on keeping them long. I was just bored with a few bucks in hand and figured i'd take one for the team with all the header choices talk lately. Can't afford the good stuff quite yet, family is always number one priority.

Well four weeks to the day of removal, she finally came to life last night. A lot of issues the first go around, mainly because of trying to short cut the job and not purchase an argon tank for the MIG. (Tank/filled/regulator $323.00! Ouch) That was just plain ignorant on my part and caused a billion leaks. Took a break from aggravation, plus work kept me away, but finally built another set, this time I just bought an old set of headers off craigslist for $20 and hacked them up and cheated :) Came out good enough for me for the time being, wish I had just spent the money on some new ones now LOL. Can't lie, it was A LOT more work than anticipated, OR just build a set from scratch would have been easier to work with if I were looking for a project and had the down time.
Built the X pipe as well, that was easy thanks to Joe helping out!
Sounds simply AWESOME at idle, but now I hate the flowmasters.. plus I just have to get me some cut outs after hearikng the open headers :) Out come the jacks yet again :(
