Been dealing with this for a long time now and just wanted to try and narrow it down and fix it...I know it's been talked about before but I could not find any very useful information with the search function.

Have the typical issues...follows grooves, cracks, bumps, and everything in the road.

If im not tightly grasping the steering wheel down a poorly paved road the car would probably instantly be out of control.

What is the "usual" cause for this? Link bars? Bad camber? Springs?

All of the above.

High performance tires are also prone to this more so than regular all-season tires. The factory alignment settings aggravate the condition as well, so try re-setting to Carfixer's specs...that should help a little, although if it's a drastic as you claim, you may have other issues.

Here's from a May 2010 thread .....

Its called "Tramlining" and seems it is more prone to wider, low profile tires with a stiff sidewall. That's us !! :D Many MM owners have noticed this over the years and consider it normal.

Here the Wiki definition >>> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tramlining

All makes sense. I will probably start with some new front tires and a Carfixer alignment. Mine are in pretty bad shape. I get free alignments at school :D
