Hello everyone,

I seem to have a difficult issue. Awhile a go I fixed te OD green light, (the switch on the transmission).

Now after the engine warms up I get ABS and Brake light indicators. When the car is cold this does not happen. All the brake functions and ABS are ok by a scan. We have done this for a couple of weeks now. Always no fault readings. It is the same On 2 different Scanners too.

Additionally now once and a while at low speeds the OD light flashes again. When you reach hwy speeds, say 50-60, OD returns to normal and works perfectly. Light and all.

The last couple of days the engine RPM will double to about 1200 RM. The car will actually go about 20mph on its own from a dead stop. Again after driving for a few minutes at hwy speed the idle will return to normal. Also the engine light has also come on too.

We also disconected and rebooted the computer at the battery and discharge it yesterday. All the issues returned today.

This is frustrating and sound strange to me. I have never experienced this on any car prior.

Next step we are going to check out the computer out of the car.

Has anyone had similar issues? Any help or suggestions will be appreciated
Thanks
Steve

sounds like ABS module or vehicle speed sensor is acting up. I would check those first. good luck

Mean no disrespect but what scanner are you using? A regular OBDII scanner, any brand, will not detect ABS faults. You need one from Ford or one that specifically has the ABS scan function IIRC.

Replacing the ABS ECU requires reprogramming and brake system bleeding using the special scan tool to activate the various pistons.

I just had mine done, $900.00 for a new ECU and associated labor.

An ECU, used, may still require reprogramming and brake bleed.
Ask Dom - Motorhead 350. He just went thru this exercise too.

Also sounds like you have two different problems, one ABS and is the other a check engine lite?

The OBDII scan tool should display a fault code or codes than can be used to isolate your check engine lite fault. The ABS is a separate probably unrelated fault.

Consult a OBDII decoder http://www.troublecodes.net/OBD2/Pcodes.shtml

This should help in determining what sensor(s) are involved.

If your not familiar with modern auto repair then I would suggest you take your car to a dealership or mechanic that can help.
