Looking for some reliability information on the newer 4.6 4v's. I know the early ones have a reputation for using oil over 100K or even chucking their bearings.

Do the later ones like the 03+04 Marauders have better luck over 100K? How about when boost is added?

Just sold our travel trailer so I am paying $500 a month for an F150 we dont need. Looking to trade down, a Ford dealer north of me has a 50K Marauder. I am going to go in and talk, they maybe interested in a trade!

In Morton (north of Springfield). Actually I am on 155, which an I 55 connector so really STL is just a hop skip and jump away.

Sounds like the 2000+ 4.6 4Vs are lasting longer then the early 4.6 4V!

There are several around for sale with high mileage, and a couple closer with 70K. The one I found with 50K is further away.... These all seem to be going for about the same price regardless of mileage so the longer drive maybe worth it unless I can get a great deal.

Only other issue would be trading my 4x4 F150 in a Central IL that saw a ton of snow last year.

Plenty on this site for sale. As longs as you keep rwhp to 450 and under; plenty eaton/trilogy/vortech owners make that kind of power with no issues. Good luck!

I went with an Eaton swap at 60K miles, currently just under 70K, "0" issues with the car so far.

425+ rwhp, and loving every minute of it!

Yeah I know but I still owe 18,500 or so on my 2009 F150. I would prefer to find a dealer to take her on trade. I could try to sell it private party, just easier to find one at a dealer.

Somebody bought the gateway ? It was sad when that place closed. If I end up with an MM (and it is likely) I will be a go for sure.

that is happy and sad I guess. New track is good, vacant gateway sad.

I just read the high mileage post and am very reassured. Sounds like these things take a beating and just keep going. I have a couple car dealers I am going to call tomorrow, maybe take a look at 1 or 2 this week.

Did I mention I hate used car salesman?

Well, then bypass the salesman and get one of the fine cars F/S here on MM.net... ;)

I have 84K with the Trilogy 114k on the clock, it has been on since 2005.
Turned up the wick last fall with a pully upgrade, runs high 12's , like a Swiss watch

FIT ProCharger #10 at 84K miles......one ProCharger rebuild and a new P1-SC....233K miles on the original engine with NO OIL CONSUMPTION between changes!!

That is almost 150K Supercharged miles with no particular problems....oh, BTW it still has the original coils too...FWIW!!

Rex,

I have used Mobil I ever since the second oil change and in Winter use 5W20....Summer 5W30 until about a year ago when I found 0W30 and now I use that all the time!!

I also use an upper cylinder lube with my fuel that I feel like accounts for my valve train and piston ring longevity!!

88k and going strong. I plan on driving this car till the doors fall off. I'm one big extra payment to having her totally paid off. Then.... the real modding will begin.

Before the Marauder I had a 94 Mark VIII, and it had over 250,000 km (155,000 miles) and the motor ran perfect, never used a drop of oil ever and it wasn't babied..loved that car but love the blown Marauder more...
