I never worked at Auto Zone specifically, but from my experience, the store brand brake pads are complete garbage, even though they are most likely made by a national manufacturer. Spend the extra $20 bucks or so and get the good pads. One quality stop out of them and they will pay for themselves by not needing to pay your insurance deductible.

Wagner Thermoquiet ceramic pads have a $15 rebate per set of pads promo going on still I believe. I bought mine off Amazon for my Taurus. I run Motorcraft pads currently on the MM since I didn't have the money at the time to buy Hawk pads as I had to get new front rotors, new calipers, exhaust and dyno tune all around the same time sorta.

I put in my time as a car mechanic and I'll tell you that store brand pads are junk.

Hawk HPS pads all the way around baby!

Dura(don't)Last for any item of that brand.
Original Motorcraft ... good stopping.
little > no fade.
long wearing.
even wearing.
very little rotor wear.
little dust.
etc., etc., etc..
When replacement was done (105,000 miles and the pads were 75% worn), went back to Motorcraft ( front pads co$t $34 ).

Based on the comments why would a shop replace hi performance front discs and then install Duralast Pads?

I picked up Checkers premium Ceramic pads and rotors. I haven't installed them just yet but when I do I'll let you guys know how she does. My stockers are damn near finished.

We have a new vendor on the forum, KNS Brakes. They have a new line of brake pads for OEM rotors. Why hasn't anyone got in touch with them first?

Rock Auto had some close outs that were solid deals.
I like the severe duty pads they seem to work well they leave a little dust but they stop like a bugger.
