I provided the TSB listed below (got it from a 24 DEC thread from
01True BlueGT) to my local friendly neighborhood Lincoln Mercury dealer, when I dropped my MM for some minor issues. Why because my radio and temp digital displays do flicker at times at certain setting with the dimmer control. Their response was that this TSB didn't apply because they couldn't see the dash lights for the analog gauges flicker. They said it was a radio issue. Since there are so few MMs in the area, they don't have examples on the lot to compare with (as far as I can tell there are only 4 MMs in the Omaha metro area).
Has any body had issues/problems with their radio/clock/temp digital displays in their MMs?

17295 2003-2004 CROWN VICTORIA/GRAND MARQUIS BUILT BEFORE 10/20/2003 - FLICKERING IP DISPLAY
SOME 2003-2004 CROWN VICTORIA AND GRAND MARQUIS VEHICLES BUILT BEFORE 10/20/2003 EQUIPPED WITH AN ELECTRONIC CLUSTER MAY EXHIBIT A FLICKERING ELECTRONIC INSTRUMENT CLUSTER DISPLAY, ELECTRONIC AUTOMATIC TEMPERATURE CONTROL DISPLAY, RADIO DISPLAY, AND/OR OVERHEAD CONSOLE DISPLAY. THIS MAY BE CAUSED BY SETTING THE BACKLIGHTING INTENSITY ADJUSTMENT BETWEEN 25-75% IN COMBINATION WITH FLUCTUATIONS OF THE VEHICLE CHARGING SYSTEM VOLTAGE INTO THE LIGHTING CONTROL MODULE (LCM). TO SERVICE, REPLACE THE LCM WITH 3W7Z-13C788-BA.

We don't have ELECTRONIC INSTRUMENT CLUSTER DISPLAY, but we do have ELECTRONIC AUTOMATIC TEMPERATURE CONTROL DISPLAY, RADIO DISPLAY, AND OVERHEAD CONSOLE DISPLAY.

So if those displays are flickering and not just the analog instrument back lighting, you mat have the problem described

I've seem my radio display change brightness - it happens as ambient light levels change. This happens day or night and headlights on or off.

I have had the problem and hopefully the flickering will occur when I bring my car in for service. It is happening more frequently than before. It will start and continue for awhile then it will stop.

I had the same issue - Radio, overhead lights, climate control and oil/voltage lights all flickered when dimmed. They replaced the light control module and it solved everything except for the radio flicker, which I didn't notice until I had gotten it ready for winter storage, so I'll be going back in the spring for that.

Hey Guys...

I've noticed mine will get bright or dim.....only the radio and climate control readouts?? It seems that with the lights on during the day they get bright (controlled by the daylight sensor??)?? If I drive into the garage or it gets dark they dim and are now controlled by the panel dimmer with the rest of the dash lights.

My climate control readout and stereo lights only,(not sound) will completely turn off and come back on immediately. Has done it since new. Have had the car 1 year and probably noticed it happen 10 times. No biggy, not going to worry about until they dont come back on. Dont want the dealer tearing my car apart. Have 6yrs/75k miles for someone else to tell me exactly what the problem is. Thats the beauty of this site.

Mine flicker too, at around 25%. If I adjust the brightness and go back, they are ok for a while. It is only the radio, temp, and clock that do it, as far as I have noticed. My older Fords did it too though....

Mine flicker too!
Especially when stopped for a light.
Could be the nature of the beast!
