It was chilly out and he could see his breath as he walked to the garage to head to work. The Weather Channel's Al Roaker reminded him this morning that Fall had begun. Hmmm, where did Spring and Summer go? The yearly Marauder meet was fast approaching, the car was in the shop yet again and it never saw pavement. Sounded just like last year.
Regardless, progress was being made and the pictures from the shop were encouraging. Encouraging if you consider total dis-assembly of the dash and firewall progress. That made him laugh out loud. What a mess! There has to be 50 lbs of wire that laying there and copper is up, so that is a good thing. Regardless, a clean slate is what was called for and this was one way to get there.
Lots to do this weekend though. He had to pick up the old motor and get it ready for storage and then finish cleaning out the garage for Winter. Brrr. Just the thought of snow put a damper on his mood. There was the empty 55 gallon barrel that he needed to fill with E85 before the local co-op started pumping the Winter blend. Last week he had procured 2 5-gallon cans of the stuff and it still tested as E-86, so timing was everything. Next to empty drum sat a full barrel of E-98 and it hadn't even been cracked open yet. Add two coaster bases for the barrels to the list of things needed from the local Farm & Fleet to get the garage in order. Maybe this will be the year the garage will be ready *before* it snows...

Darkness. A scary place where untold horrors hide in the corn fields and ditches waiting to leap out in front of your car and ruin your day. Not liking to drive at night and risk meeting Bambi, he waited patiently for for the first inkling of light through his office window. The cats were up long ago and made sure that reading email and surfing the web were challenges between swishes of tails and the occasional paws on the keyboard. But the sun did rise and it was time to ready the truck for the journey to Naperville and check on the car.
With a box of doughnuts, some peanut M&Ms and two fresh cans of diet Mt.Dew, it was game on. 4 hours on the road with Sirius tuned to Alt. Nation, this should be a piece of cake, but why are there so many cars on interstate 380 south at the crack of dawn? It didn't take long before another car flew by and this time it was clear, the Iowa Hawkeyes were playing at home today and all the cars were heading to Kinnick Stadium to get a head-start on tailgating. And true to form, the Iowa Highway Patrol were also out in force. Only 60 miles of this and the stadium will be in the rear view mirror.
Most of the drive, sans rabid football fans, was uneventful and traffic was moving along and not in the way. The weather was not cooperating though. 30 minutes from the shop, a fine mist was in the air and the wipers were called into action. Slowly at first, but it wasn't long before they were on as fast as they would go. Traffic was slowing and seeing the car in front was getting to be a challenge. Of course this was right at the interstate 80 / 55 interchange and he needed to go north on 55. Why is it that when you really need to make a difficult merge there is always someone in front of you that is just learning how to drive and wants to slam on the brakes on the on-ramp?
The rain let up just as he turned into the driveway of Finish Line Performance. The usual suspects were there and the main door was open to the cool 60* overcast day. It didn't take long to locate the Marauder either.

A quick glance under the hood and inside the car confirmed that every piece of the wiring harness was removed and the firewall was clear.

The site is down while I move the server. It should be back in a day or two.
As for ProRauder, you will just have to wait and see.

your pictures of your build bring back fond memories of last year when my build was underway. I was at the garage every day, I could never have been 4 hours away, it would've killed me or my wife would've killed me!
I enjoyed the build process as much as I have the racing, the anticipation of the final product and seeing all that work finally go down the track.
Still would like to know what power plant and transmission you plan on using, if I can be of any help don't hesitate to ask. joe

Big Block Ford FTW!....??
BOSS 529 please.....It is not a boss 9 motor. I didn't have the funds to do that and what I am doing at the shop this time. I will tell you that it is still a MOD motor but everything is new from the flex plate forward. I will say it can run anything from 87 pump gas all the way to alcohol (which is what it is getting tuned for).

However, in the last 4 years of having work done on my car, I have learned that the more I am present, the longer it takes and the more it costs me. LOL! This builder is Dan Bills of Finish Line Performance. He has a ProMod 07 Mustang that he built, tunes and drives. If you want to see some cool cars, check out the Finish Line Performance web site ad www.flp2win.com or their facebook page. There is a 65 Olds 442 in there right now that is street driven and made 1350+ on pump gas! It is wicked cool!
Cheers!

Real knowledgeable guys at FLP. I interviewed them when I thought of going turbo and they gave me plenty of options. When did they move way down Rt 59? They used to be right behind my old H.S.

that's pretty ! Do I think I see the injector ports on the plate between the blower and the intake. Correct me if I'm wrong John. The injectors are just below the bug catcher. The holes you see are the bolt holes that try to keep the blower attached to the intake. The smaller holes on the runners are for the nitrous injectors.
