Ok so my buddy just pucked up an 03 with a blown motor....he is thinking of doing a reman but he was wondering what 4valve motors would bolt in because he found one out of a late 90s lincoln. I cant remember correctly but i believe there are different heads on some of these engines but i dont know remember what the difference is. if anyone can help that would be great...thanks everyone

Lincoln is FWD, block can't be used due to different trans bolt pattern, and some motor mount issues.
The heads, while not exactly the same, are similar and can be used.

The Mark VIII are RWD, built up through '98...

If he goes with the Cobra option, he'll want to swap the front skirt off the junk MM engine. If not, he'll need to notch the frame for clearance.

Does anything special have to be done for a Mach 1 or Aviator block swap?

I've been wondering about this also. Can a short block out of a 93 Mark 8 be used yo build a good motor? I've herd good things about the Teskid block.

Yes. As stated before, 98 and older will fit. Some head(flow) and cam differences, but these block make excellent starting points.

- 96-98 engines have B heads, will not work with your intake
- 99/01 (Cobra/Mark 8) engines have C heads, will work with your intake
- The 96-01 shortblocks (cobra/Mark 8) will work
- The intake cams in the 96-98 and 99/01 cobra engines are much better than those in the Marauder, install them at a 106LC
- The 03/04 Cobra engine is cast iron and will add 80 lbs to the front of the car and it also has lower compression which makes it a pig when n/a, under boost it makes about 50rwhp/50rwtq less than a stock engine at 10psi, they are not good options for low boost or n/a
- An avaitor engine will require the marauder front cover, intake manifold, fuel rails and oil filter adapter, all else is the same
- A Mach 1 engine from a car with an auto trans will only require you to change the oil filter adapter, upper intake and fuel rails
- The Mark 8 and early cobra shortblocks will have the same compression as a Marauder engine
