Just to make clear, I did search beforehand, but I didn't find anything relating to what I'm looking for. So here goes...

There are few things in a car I like to turn on/off automatically, and I certainly do not like my headlights to turn on automatically when the wipers are in use. Yes, I know there are laws and whatever, but I don't care about them. I use exterior illumination on my vehicle as long as I'm driving it so I don't need automatic anything. Is there any way to stop the headlights from turning on automatically with the wipers?

Somebody else was asking about this a while back, not sure there's a simple work around, IIRC, one guy "fixed' it by clipping some wires...

My car doesn't do that.

My car doesn't do that.
Neither does mine.

Now if the lights are set to Auto and the light sensor deems it's dark enough to turn the lights on them maybe that's what it is doing and just happens to be also when it's raining.

If you use exterior illumination when driving your headlights are already on correct?

The shop manual says nothing about headlights coming on with the wipers.

2003 & 2004 Owners manual mentions it along with the auto lamp feature.

There are no notes in the LCM revision document I have.

Don't see anything in the wiring diagram related to the lights / wipers.

Exactly my headlights do not come on when i activate my wipers, unless i have the lights set to auto.

I always use the manual lights knob. Don't think I've ever used auto lites in any of my cars. The only auto feature I like other than the auto trans is the auto dim mirror.

You're not crazy, my 03 does it too. 20-40 seconds after the wipers go on so do the headlights. I think only the delay so as not to be set off by the squirt and autowipe.

I was suprised by this too as my 04 would not do it unless the lights were set to auto.

Now on my 03A, they come on with the wipers no matter what.

I have had (3) 300a's and all of them have had this feature. If you turn on the wipers the headlights come on like 20-40 secs later. The headlight switch has to be set to auto or you have to have the daylight running light module installed and the lights will come on even if the lights are turned off when the wipers come on.

My 300a lights come on with wipers. That is with the knob in the off position. I still plan on disabling this feature.

Mine come on with the wipers. Why would anyone disable that...too many fools already driving in the rain with no lights on...you realize the lights are not so you can see, right? They are so we can see you.... ;)

My 2001 was like the 2003, lights always came on when wipers were on after the delay.

The 04 MM lights do NOT come on if the switch is set to off instead of autolamps. I love the Autolamps, had them on my last 4 panthers, now my old 96 Lincoln beater has the same steering wheel redundant controls, auto lamps, EATC and auto dim mirror as the Marauder and even both cars programmed to the same remote fob. Makes it easy to switch from car to car with no adjustment period.

I almost always have lights on when I drive, just not the headlights. I prefer to just have the fog lights on. Plus there have been times when I've needed to run the wipers and there was no need for any lights to come on, but they do anyway. I just want to have full manual control over which lights turn on and when.

By the way, this is a 300A. I'm guessing they changed some of these features around for subsequent production runs if some of you aren't experiencing this.
