Heard a bad rumor about Byron Dragway today.
It seems they lost a significant amount of money this year and are considering selling to the park district for 3 million.
If that happens the track will get paved over for sure cause theyv'e wanted them gone for years.

I no its not the greatest track but its only 30 mins. away from me and one of the oldest in the country. :bigcry:

They certainatly lost me! I got sick of hearing them brag about "record breaking attendance" everytime I went out. One time it took Bradley over THREE hours to get his first run in! I didn't even bother racing. I stopped at the booth and explained that perhaps they quit bragging about attendance as it only favors YOU, not us, the ones who can't even get a run in. Their comeback? "You just need to be more patient"...

I still go maybe once every two years, but only for friends meeting up. Sucks for you as you are so close, but that is an hour and a half away for me, same as GLD and just another 30 minutes on that is Morocco.

I would much rather be shunned away at the door for being too crowded than for them to take my money and offer nothing in return.

Sorry Doug, I used to enjoy the place, maybe I am just picking the wrong days to go anymore??

That's stupid. They have one bad year and they want to sell. Yes it would suck for me cause its a 30min drive to there but come on one bad year?? Really!!
