I am searching for a VW diesel caddy. These are the early 80's rabbits with a pickup body. I have searched ebay, bid on some and not won yet. If you know of one near you or have one yourself ...let me know. Thanks!

Save wear and tear on the CV. Save money on fuel. Pick up women folk. Race Doom. Polish it up, real purty like...get a nice shine on 'er, and stick it straight up your candy cane game... it'll fit..their smallish. Turn it into a used veggie oil burner and make everyone behind me hungry....
and whatever you can come up with.

Hey, go for it, I've just never known anyone that had one or can remember the last time I even saw one. Have you just always wanted one?

We just got a 2001 Jetta tdi for my oldest son to drive and have been looking for something that gets good mileage that's at least a little cool and different to drive. I was after a svo mustang or merkur xr4ti, but I think I'd want to mod those. Diesel has longevity with proper maintenance.

Word. Didn't Dodge make like an Omni pickup similar to the Volks?

Caddy was the Canadian version.
I bought a gas Guards Red "SportTruck" in May 1981. Brand new about 5K.

A great little truck until Sonny Boy #1 came along. No room for a car seat...
Traded it for a new 1986 Jetta.

Rust is a big issue with these trucks along with Rabbits too, look around the front cowl area and where the cab and bed meet. Dont forget this is just a Rabbit with a bed grafted in.

By the way, there are diesel swaps out there using a small Cummins and a Ford Ranger.

I was a VW diesel guy before, had a 83 rabbit, 85 golf, 91 jetta, 98 jetta, 01 jetta all diesels loved the fuel mileage.

Good advice jimlam56... the search continues. Rust is my biggest fear. I am looking in southern states where salt is not used. Even better would be the southwest!
