So after failing two visual inspections for smog because of all things my JLT CAI!!! Called Tucker and verified that no CARB EO is available. Paranoid because I can get pulled over for my loud exhaust, and the officers can inspect for illegal modifications to the vehicle err.....The CAI is the most obvious when inspecting.
So I order up a K&N CAI kit for the Marauder. Problem solved right? Wrong! Turns out the K&N kit comes with a hard plastic intake tube designed for the stock 80mm MAF! Crap I've got the SCT BA 3000 90mm MAF ugh.....well after picking my nose stumbling bumbling with the kit I say hey I'll just reuse the JLT tube from MAF to Throttle body bingo bango problem solved. I've now got a very expensive CARB sticker I can place in the engine bay....lol luckily for me K&N includes lots of stickers that I put to good use lol!
Actually the K&N heatshield and filter really look good with the HUGE JLT intake tube. Will post up better pics later.

Ahhh, the land of $200,000 public life guards, a $150,000,000,000+ state employees pension shortfall and where boat Captains who make $200K per year collect unemployment on their time off.;)

Random on the street checks. "We pulled you over because your car sounds loud. Pop that hood, we need to make sure it's all CARB legal."
Kommifornia!

The SpeeDee place always gives me a hard time even with the CARB legal K&N kit but they eventually figure it out and pass me on the visual. So I feel your pain.

Look on DRs site for the airbox and its connected to the JLT tube assembly. What you already have should work just as well. My airbox was not cheap.

Funny, I have no CARB sticker on my K&N, but I have not an issue with it. We will see next year when it gets smogged.
Course, I have the K&N cause it is the only legal one in this wonderful state I live in ...

Yeah my JLT CAI passed two years ago too? Same shop and same tech should be good right...wrong! I asked what's different this year? His explanation the state is cracking down...WTH! My headers are getting the JBA shorty EO numbers tact on so that should cover that.

I may just be an ignorant doofus,
but can someone please explain to me,
what the difference is between a stock plastic intake tube and an aftermarket plastic intake tube that could ever possibly be considered hazardous to the air quality?
Is it the PCV? I feel like I'm giving too much credit in asking that though...

It's got nothing to do with the parts......
The problem is they live in California.

Fulltime legislators = too much time dreaming up regulations that kill the state economy. CARB cost tax payers millions with no oversight a rouge department using junk science.
