I see several MM owners have engine oil temperature gauges installed. Can someone please tell me what your actual engine temp is?
Also is there a preferred engine oil temp to maintain?
I am wondering if an engine oil cooler would be a benefit when it finally warms up here!
I installed the trany temp gauge, (mounted sender unit in pan), and when its 40 Deg F. or below outside the trany temp rarely gets to 125 Deg F. My local F/D dealer says 160 to 170 Deg F. is optimal temp for our trany.
Thanks!

160F is ideal, but cooler, to a degree, does not hurt. That is the outlet temp by the way, upstream of the cooler(s) Pan temp would be the temp downstream of the cooler.
From my research, to the best of my knowlege, engine oil optimal temp is around 180F-200F. This is hot enough to evaporate water and fuel in the oil and prevent condensation from the steam that is a byproduct of hydrocarbon combustion, but cool enough to not stress the oil. If you experience very cold weather, you will need a oil thermostat if using a cooler, but covering the cooler is another option. Oil thermostats typically direct oil to the cooler at 200F.
