Happened to be in the area of where a Marauder is for sale, so we went to look at it. As you can see the brakes are pretty rusty, and the back bumper was all scuffed up. Didnt get to see the interior,(but through the windows it looked good) but am probably going to look at it again on sunday with my dad. the car has 70k miles on it, and the nissan dealership it is at wants $10,988. what do you think would be a fair offer?

yeah, I saw that one in the area. Vacaville, right? Looks a little beat for 69K, however, it appears mostly cosmetic and that gives you some good leverage. I noticed it's been there for awhile; that could also give you some leverage negotiating-wise.

exactly what I was thinking, and yes this is the same car. About how long has it been there? I did try to ask him how long they had it but he changed the subject

From what I've seen, at least 2 or 3 months. I know there's nothing a dealership hates more than dead stock.
Also, at the price they're offering: they probably didn't give the dude who traded it a penny over 8K.

If you decide its worth pursuing, offer 9,000 and work your way to a deal. How bad they want to unload it will determine where you will "meet" on price. Good luck! :)

well its mostly up to my dad, but $9000 was what I thought was reasonable as well.

Your pictures are WAY TOO BIG! Please resize. You're throwing off the horizontal size of the thread.

Factor in the tax and the additional costs, you'll be just under $10K out the door. Start around $7500-$8K and see what they counter offer.
Is this a 03 or 04?

No offence here, but I hope your father is good at this. Reason being that no sales person will negotiate a auto sale with a minor, since you want the car you know this correct? Also you know the LEGAL reason why, correct?

That is already a good price. Seen several 70K cars asking over $13K. Also has the dealer dropped the asking price? My car was cut twice last time online last time the day before I went to look/buy. It was approaching 90 days on the lot to BUT they would not budge further car felt like new still does a year and 20K miles later

Offer 8k and go from there. Mention the flaws as well as cost to repair those flows and the fact that it's been sitting on the lot for months. Oh and don't forget to bring up the price jacking. For all you know they saw your thread about it.

I would not write this off so fast.
Call them up, go check it out and test drive it. Show interest in the car. When it comes to price, show them the add you have where the price is $10,999 (or whatever it was). When they counter with the $15K they want now, ask them why. What repairs were done to the car that warrant the higher price? Be honest with them that you were interested at the $10.9 price, but for $15, they are far superior Marauders out there. You might even want to bring some adds to show them.
You might be surprised at the end result. I did this once with a car and it was fairly to get it at their 'sale price'.
Personally I think the $10.9 price was fair, espicially for the market out here. Me, I never have paid asking price, but I would think $11.5-12, out the door, would be a fair price for this Marauder.
Worst thing that can happen, they say 'no', and you find another one.

I suppose it can't hurt to ask again, I would not have too much faith in getting any sort of a good deal from the dealer after the bait and raise game.
