I recall someone saying the easiest way to wire in a tach adapter for an 05 Grand Marquis. I did a search but I'm having no luck. Can I go off one of the wires going directly into the COP? I need to know asap so I can wire in my tach adapter, tach and window switch for the NOS. I asked the same question yesterday on CV.Net and got no response. Thank You.

I had used this as a reference on my 04 GM. Not sure if there is much difference btw. the years 04-05...There was a how to thread that I think DROCK had over there at CVN...I'll look for it.

That plug on my 05 is below and to the rt of the master cylinder. I had to unbolt it to get it off and there is no slack in the wiring at all, to pull it up and see what the pin numbers are. There has to be an easier way. Even if I did find the wire, I couldn't even get in there to do the work required to wire in the adapter. I think this is one job I may have to pay someone to do, sad to say.

I've looked through everything the members have sent me and so far, nothing for an 05. Some members on CV.net are trying to figure it out as well. When someone says it should be similar to this or that, I tend to not do it. I don't want to hack at wires just to have to repair them. One suggestion was to use a wire near the battery. This is what was quoted,"
For '05, you are looking for a SOLID RED WIRE. Like the 98-02 and 03-04 installs, your splice must be UPSTREAM of ALL ignition coils.
This best place to do this is at/near the c192 inline connector (which is the only inline connector of the '05 COP power feed), which is right by the battery/fusebox (should be the middle connector of three in a row)
The connector has 16 pins, and the RED wire you are looking for is right on pin 1 - which is one of the 4 corners wink." I understand how to splice in and wire everything up, but, does anyone know for sure? On the 05 GM, the pin positions and colors are changed on the connecter beside the brake booster. 3 CV.net members tried the wire everyone says and it does not work. Sorry to drag this on.

One thing I remember when I did mine was to NOT splice the wires...There was something about the tach feed wire that wouldn't send the signal if it was spliced...I just cut the wire and stripped it carefully, attached it and then used heat shrink tube to seal it and then used electrical tape to seal it off even more...

Yes, you are right. The wire has to be cut and the red wire from the tach adapter is up stream and the red and green wire is down stream towards the engine. You can't just splice into it, the adapter has to complete the circuit with the power to the cop's going through it. I just need to know which wire to use.
