AMSOIL Full Synthetic?!?!?!?!

i recently bought my SB back in april with 59K. Im rolling up on 62 and was wondering about full synthetic motor oil. The AMSOIL Signature Series 5w-20 claims it can be changed every year or 15,000 miles if you used in conjuction with there filter. So the question i have is should i stay with 5w-20 if im going full synthetic and also should i trust the 15K/ one year change interval???

Amsoil is good. I use it, 5W30. Use an OEM Motorcraft filter though. As far as 15k, you check it visually and change it accordingly. :beer:

amsoil is great!!! i helped with rebuild of a302. motor ran only amsoil . driven 45 miles one way to drag strip.running 11.5 passes,for 2 years trailed 1 year. the inside looked as fresh as the day it was first put together.

I run AMSOIL 0w-20 and 75w-110 for gear oil. Good stuff for sure!

i also use amsoil 5-30 but i wouldnt go more that 5k miles on any oil anyways

I have been using it since 1985. I run it in my 2006 3/4 Sprinter diesel, It goes 18-20K on an oil change.
I sold a 1996 F150 with 170,000 miles on it, Original transmission. Fully loaded bed (mobile marine repairs) 1000s of miles towing boats.
When I sold it it had the oil changed 6 times, I used their bypass oil filter system. The oil was still clear.
25,000 miles minimum between changes with filter changes every 12,000 miles.
I am running the Amsoil Dominator 5W30 racing oil in the Aluminator. I change it once a year.
I use their filters as well.

I too run Amsoil 5w30 full syn. and their filter changed once a year, My car only see's 4000 miles a year? Also run it in my 2004 f250 20k miles changes truck now has 134k miles still purrs like a kitten. :)

ill use it but ill check the oil every 5K just to be sure and now the only question is the type, i only drive the car to and from work, i slam it every once and a while but its pretty much my short trip car so would the 5w20 be fine, i really dont know the oil rating system so dont know what to choose....

Don't be surprised if they suggest 0W-20, I used it in my Mark 8 for 7 years, lots of WOT running with it and many miles in triple digits. Annual changes or 25,000 miles whichever came first.

Ive ran amsoil 5w-30 since 7k, i change mines every 20k! send a sample back to amsoil, and they will analyze it and tell you the condition of your oil, motor.

My 77 year old retired drag racer; Gene Mori, swears by AMSOIL. He also has the distribution rights here in the southern MD area. He gets a quarterly percentage check from AMSOIL, from all the sales in the area.

AMSOIL's great stuff, I used it for years in couple cars.

Best way to judge oil condition and change out is by oil analysis, neither visual appearace or time-based changing are the ideal way to manage lubrication maintenance.

AMSOIL is excellent oil and is perfectly capable of extended drain intervals when using their filters, however I would recommend the OP perform a UOA (used oil analysis) at 10,000 miles before committing to a longer interval.

Even if an oil is capable of extended drain, many factors need to be considered, including (but not limited to) fuel dilution, contamination due to excessive blow-by, faulty air filtration, frequent short trips in cold weather, etc. This is why a UOA should be performed before jumping in with both feet.

Just filled it up with Amsoil Full Synthetic 5W-20. Runs alot smoother, well worth the 10.15 a quart.......ouch!!!!!, but i will definitely recommend amsoil to all members

Make sure you check your oil level every once in a while. My daughter went 7 K on Synthetic and blew the engine. The engine had 117 K on it and it was using . It was not leaking but using and it ran low and cooked the engine.

Every car ive ever switched from conventional to ams oil synthetic all ways runs a lot smoother!

dont kno which oil i had, it was from the dealer, barely went 3000 miles since april, but ill see because in the next 500 miles my wifes 2009 sonata is due for an oil change and will be switching to full synthectic 5w-20 also

agreed, but if you become a preferred amsoil customer, it is $5.85 (or so) a quart! only costs $20 to become a member. Change the oil twice a year in your car and you made money (sort of). That's my approach since I do a minimum of 6 oil changes a year total in my vehicles.
