I sold my JLT to guspech750 I guess a year or two ago. I caught a deal on a K&N and installed it, drove up to Haggis' house a few hours away and liked the top end grunt it had. So, I sold the JLT. I did a comparison on the two, they both have thier fine points. I missed the freight train sound of the JLT when you stomped it, butI liked the smooth lines of the K&N. I didn't like the closed end of the K&N, it has a chrome cap. The JLT is all filter. I combined the two to see how it would work out. Joe wasn't using the JLT so he sent me the aluminum adapter ring. The little bolts for the K&N do not fit the JLT flange. Off to Ace Hardware....problem solved for a dollar and some change. Next, had to cut the K&N tube back to fit the longer (that's what she said to DOOM) JLT filter. First cut was not enough, but that meant I would have to cut the tube and eliminate the bracket mount. Nothing ventured, nothing gained, cut it. Skinned the ever loving Jesus out of my right thumb. It worked out, the MAF harness is stretched tighter than a, I dunno something that's tight, but there is room between the end of the filter and the header panel, for to get air from them holes. I reused the K&N bracket by re-shaping it so that it supports the MAF housing, but is not bolted to it. I will fab a better version some day, but the thing ain't coming off. I took it around the block, all conditions normal. I will wail on it tomorrow after I change the fluids and filters. Then I will see if I have achieved the best of both worlds: the smooth lines of the K&N with the megatron JLT filter.

Looks good.

The harness for the MAF looks tight.... I'd extend the harness.

Very cool!

Had/Have the same thoughts between the two systems.

Are those valve covers painted or vinyl?

Awesome job brother! I can't blow up the pic, how did you attach the filter to the tube? Looks MEAN!

BTW, is this a record for a JLT split up? I am using the tube, both rubber fittings, and one clamp from you original kit with my JLT filter/ adaptor that Brandon gave me. You have the adaptor, and joe is using another adaptor with your original filter and three of the clamps with a cobra zip tube on his Eaton! Confusicated yet? :)

The aluminum ring is the key. The filter clamps to it, it gets bolted to MAF housing, MAF housing clamped to tube. I'll let you touch it in a couple days if you want. ;)

I used my PHP airbox with the JLT tube. Just needed a plumbing coupler to make the thing work. Its been on there for years. That was back in the day when Jay would sell you just the tube. I have a nylon prefilter over the actual filter, catches a lot of stuff that would get into the filter.
