There's a photo gallery for this, please use it. Posting pictures directly to the forums adds ALOT of data to the database...

how did you do it? and is it difficult?..I saw in an auto store today there were several %'s of tint that can be purchased and they look like they were in rolls...seems like it would take a special tool to keep out any rinkles and bubbles...

Word of advice, do not, I repeat do NOT attempt to tint your windows yourself. The tint sold at auto parts stores is crap.

Take it to a professional tint shop, in addition to the film being top quality, it comes to them in precut sheets in most cases which makes the installation go quickly and look awesome. Well worth the money to pay someone to do the install.

I did'nt....And it took a auto glass installer who has the tools to do it two trys to do the rear window.Which he did with two pieces, using the rear heater window wires as a straight edge. And I know he used the film sheets a squeege a small plastic straight edge and a razor blade.Thet guarentee of a perfect job withno bubbles was worth the professional installation. When I picked up the car I could see all the scrape tint on the garage floor.PS I did tip the installer,I like to see the guy who's going to be touching my car to make sure he has the impression how important this car is to me so that he doesn't screw up!

Logan?

I apologize for my responsibility here, I asked a fellow MM owner for advice about window tint, perhaps I was to eager in asking to "see" his "degree" of tint.

Here in Illinois, we have no "standard by statute" to abide, tint is generally/mostly measured by what appears reasonable to the eyes of the arresting officer.

I posted my caution and query here, and by e-mail, to another Illinois MM owner, and now I feel that my question has led to unfavorable post.

I apologize to those offended, and to chapel1 for trying to help me out.

BTW, as an L.E.O. myself, the pics posted by chapel1 here, appear "reasonable" to me, visually within what I may expect of an OEM, and not tripping my L.E.O. alarms.

Sorry for the confusion, I'll keep the rules more in mind next time.

Thanks, chapel1, and sorry for causing your reprimand. But, I do need to see this tint F2F before I visit your Archer Ave. provider. Dinner is on me, if we can meet soon, is White Fence Farm okay with you? Of course, any others that can make it, are welcome too.

Be safe,
SergntMac.

Huh? Wuh? I'm confused... No one offended anyone, I was just answering a question... The wonders of the internet, very difficult to infer the "tone" of a message... :D I know chapel didn't do his own, I was just responding to what I thought was a proposed self-installation of a tint job, that'd be a no-no... :)

chapel1's look to be a 35 tint all the way around... Me, I went and did a limo tint on all the rear windows and a 35 tint on the front two.

Re concerns about tinting vs local enforcement rules: My son is P.O for State of California (Ranger). When tinting my GM, I used very dark on rear passenger, rear window, and lighter shade on front doors, none on windshield. His comment: If stopped, lower all windows so officer can see inside, front and back; and if at night, turn on interior lights. Show officer that you understand his concerns about his safety and that you're cooperative from the beginning, and he'll never question your tint.

I would too if the situation was reversed... You never know what's behind the glass... May be some punk with a sawed off just waiting for you to come point blank.

My brother is an L.E.O. and loves to tint his cars. He has a 98 CV with "smoke" tint and an 02 Malibu with "titanium" tint. Both cars are white. He much prefers the titanium. He's quielty pushing for me to go for it, too.

I don't know much about it, but I gather from him that in GA 30% is about all the tint you're supposed to have, though not many PDs have the test equipment to confirm.

I think it costs less than $150 for the whole car around here.

I've almost always had red or burgundy vehicles. This is my first black car. With the black body and dark interior - the MM looks to me like it's already been tinted!

Macon,

Be very careful in Cobb and Fulton Counties...they really like window tint busts.. The good news is it's a improper equipment ticket, not a violation with points.. that's why I had mine professionally done complete with a compliance sticker in the windshiled...

Logan up north here we don't all the wonderful sunshine you do.And I agree wholeheartly with the law enforcement issue.Don't think I'd want my side windows to dark. Your right the 35% is clear enough at night to still see out.And I felt in IL it was better to be the same level all around as to not look non-stock?
No hurt feelings lesson understood.[PICS]

You're right... 35 is about as dark as you wanna go if you like to see at night...I have a little trouble seeing out the back at night with my limo tint...
