Just finished the timing chain tensioners and while putting it back together noticed the valve cover gaskets were a little chewed up where they meet the front cover. Used extra silicone and hoped for the best but sure enough I now have oil leaking from the front of both valve covers. How hard is it to pull the valve covers to replace the gaskets? Anyone have a link to a guide on doing it? If I decide to let my local shop do it, what is a fair price? I know the Felpro gaskets are about $50 for both sides and my local Autozone has them in stock.

The CAM cover gaskets are actually like a rubber o-ring.
You can change them yourself.
Drivers side is easy, passenger side is a little more difficult but doable.

I did the timing chain tensioners and guides without removing the CAM covers. Apparently the cam cover gaskets got chewed up a lil bit when I removed the front cover. I'm tired of working on it at this point, my back hurts and I need to drive it from CA to FL this week so I will prob take it down to my trusted local shop tomorrow AM. I'm guessing about $250 in labor.

Got it!. Fyi you need to loosen the cam covers to do that job....to avoid what happened.
Good luck

Well I ended up spending $800 but they did the cam cover gaskets, one axle, bearing and seal, rear brakes w/ rotors cut and new pads & emerg brake shoes (old ones were soaked in oil from leaking seal), pinion seal, trans filter and flush, coolant flush & fill. If you are thinking that is a good deal, I did supply the cam cover gaskets, axle, bearing, seal & emerg brake shoes to save $$$. Car is almost perfect now, just need new driver side seat covers, both the bottom and back covers if anyone knows where to get em. That and the dreaded blend door repair that needs to be done.
