MM.net members,
Thanks for 8 years of information and enjoyment reading your posts about these wonderful cars we have fallen in love with. I said goodbye to my black 2003 A Mercury Marauder a couple weeks ago. It was my daily driver in all kinds of weather. I traded it back to the dealership that I bought it from new for a low mileage 04 Navigator. Sadly....the Marauder had some issues and was going to bankrupt me. The A/C shot cold air out the defrost or floor...rarely from the dash vents. The power locks worked once in a while, but the kicker was when the headlights wouldn't come on. It needed new skins and after 8 years and 127,000 miles, it was time to bid it farewell. it also had an intermittent "burning smell." I blew a head gasket at 93,000 and fixed that. It also ate alternators.
I inherited a 1993 Buick Roadmaster with 80,000 miles on it from my father. That is my current daily driver. I had many great times in the Marauder, and it will always hold a special place in my heart. I most enjoyed playing undercover cop. People would get out of my way when they saw me coming.

Thanks for all the advice and entertainment I got from this site.

Sorry for your loss, but 8 years is a good run.

FWIW the air conditioning and headlight problems are common occurrences on these cars and both coulda been fixed permanently for a couple hundred bucks.

Good luck with the Nav

What he said.....

The problems you had could have been easily fixed.

About 15 dollars in repairs if you did them yourself. Best of luck with the new ride.

Yeah, SORRY to hear you leaving us; I was IN your area of KCMO there by "Hallmark cards" too! (I NEVER saw other MM's on the road in that entire KC area usually...HOPE yours winds up in a good home!)

GOOD Luck w/ the Navi -- they have their problems and gremlins too. 8 years was a great run though! "Never Say Never" Stay on the forum and you might find a better MM someday and get right back in with us! :D
